LG Thrill 4G (AT&T) unboxing and video tour
MobileBurn.com - The LG Thrill 4G is AT&T's version of the LG Optimus 3D that debuted to European markets a little while back. It is physically the same as its European cousin, and features a 4.3-inch, glasses-free 3D display, dual 5 megapixel cameras for 3D still and video capture, and a dual-core 1GHz processor with dual-channel memory. Unfortunately, it is still running Android 2.2 Froyo instead of the more recent 2.3 Gingerbread OS, but AT&T has promised that it will be upgraded at some point in the future. Like the Optimus 3D, the Thrill 4G is a very fast performer, though there are points, such as when launching the camera app, that it can be painfully slow. LG has customized the version of Android on the Thrill 4G with its own UI, which we find usable and not too intrusive. It borrows a lot from Samsung's TouchWiz UI, but that is not necessarily a bad thing. The Thrill 4G will be available from AT&T soon for $99.99 on contract. Be sure to check out our videos of the LG Optimus 3D (http://www.youtube.com/user/mobileburn#p/u/21/7VhI9coVOqQ & http://www.youtube.com/user/mobileburn#p/u/20/vb1W_3TZ4gU)for more looks at the hardware and software. T-Mobile myTouch 4G Slide 1080p sample video
MobileBurn.com - A sample 1080p (1920 x 1080 pixel) video clip recorded with the T-Mobile myTouch 4G Slide. As you can hear in the video, the Slide's noise canceling gets easily confused, and makes for some weird audio in videos. The Slide will let you zoom and autofocus while shooting, which is a neat feature for creative videography. However, zooming with the volume keys on the phone will cause a fair amount of camera shake, as will tapping the screen to refocus.More info: http://www.mobileburn.com/news.jsp?Id=15532
Motorola PHOTON 4G (Sprint) video tour - part 2 of 2
MobileBurn.com - The Motorola PHOTON 4G is the first high-end smartphone to come from Motorola for Sprint in a long time. It is also the first 4G WiMAX smartphone from Motorola, and the first WiMAX smartphone with global GSM support for Sprint. It features a 4.3-inch, qHD (540 x 960 pixel) display and a 1GHz, dual-core NVIDIA Tegra 2 processor. The PHOTON 4G runs Android 2.3.4 Gingerbread with Motorola's custom interface on top that has a few nice tweaks of its own. The camera is a 8 megapixel unit with autofocus and a dual-LED flash. It records video at 720p (1280 x 720 pixel) HD resolution, but it does not autofocus while filming.More info: http://www.mobileburn.com/news.jsp?Id=15253

Motorola Titanium (Sprint/Nextel) iDEN smartphone video tour
MobileBurn.com - The Motorola Titanium is the latest Android smartphone available for Sprint's iDEN-powered Nextel network. It has a 3.1-inch display and a portrait QWERTY keyboard, and sports a 5 megapixel camera with autofocus and flash, but no HD video. It meets military specifications for dust, shock, vibration, and high and low temperature exposure. The Titanium unfortunately runs Android 2.1 Eclair and has a slow 500MHz processor that does it no favors when trying to get things done. It is also hampered by the extremely slow data speeds that Nextel's iDEN network offers. Most consumers will pass on this one, but it will appeal to those business users who are looking for a smartphone but need the push-to-talk features of iDEN. Sneak peek at hidden Facebook for iPad
MobileBurn.com - The Facebook for iPhone update that was released recently came with a big secret: hidden inside was the stuff of legends, the long-awaited Facebook for iPad app. You have to jailbreak your iPad and tweak the file system a bit to access it, but otherwise, this seems to be the real deal that Facebook has been working on. It offers many of the features that Facebook on other platforms have, and it comes with a sliding pane navigation system that works quite well. There are a few bugs here and there, and a missing feature or two, but otherwise, this is very complete and could easily work as your main Facebook portal on the iPad. Hopefully Facebook will release it to the masses sooner rather than later.More info: http://www.mobileburn.com/review.jsp?Id=15937
T-Mobile myTouch 4G Slide video tour - part 2 of 2
MobileBurn.com - The T-Mobile myTouch 4G Slide is the latest model in the line of myTouch Android smartphones for T-Mobile. It features a 3.7-inch, WVGA LCD screen, and a 4-row, slide-out keyboard. Powered by a dual-core, 1.2GHz processor, the myTouch 4G Slide runs Android 2.3 Gingerbread with a custom version of the HTC Sense interface on top of it. The star attraction of the phone is the 8 megapixel camera on the back that T-Mobile touts as the most advanced camera on any smartphone to date. It features a backlit sensor and a f/2.2 lens for low-light shots, and has a dual-LED flash. Shutter lag is very fast, and there are a number of shooting modes built-in to the camera app. It can also shoot 1080p (1920 x 1080 pixel) HD video.More info: http://www.mobileburn.com/news.jsp?Id=15532

HTC Status "Facebook" smartphone (AT&T) feature tour
MobileBurn.com - The HTC Status is the American version of the HTC ChaCha that was released to European markets earlier this year. Tagged the "Facebook phone," the Status features a unique hardware button and special software to make it easy to share things and interact with Facebook. Otherwise, it is an Android 2.3 Gingerbread smartphone with HTC's Sense UI on top. In our tests, we found the 800MHz processor more than adequate for most duties, and thought the keyboard was top notch. The Status was not without faults though, as the screen is rather small compared to many phones in today's market, and the internal storage is not enough for the average app user (we managed to fill it up with less than two dozen apps and no games). The 5 megapixel camera was acceptable, though, it does not shoot HD video. You can grab the HTC Status from AT&T now for $50 on a new two-year agreement. Samsung Dart (T-Mobile) hardware and software video tour
MobileBurn.com - The Samsung Dart is an entry-level Android handset available from T-Mobile. It has a 3.1-inch display with a disappointing QVGA (240 x 320 pixel) resolution, and a 600MHz processor. Running Android 2.2 Froyo, the Dart features Samsung's TouchWiz interface. The Dart is faster than you might think with its slower processor, but the resolution really lets you down when you try to browse the web. The 3 megapixel camera lacks autofocus and a flash, and only takes QVGA video, which is disappointing as well. In light of its faults, the Dart is as cheap as you can get an Android smartphone, as T-Mobile is offering the phone for free with a new two-year agreement. You can also opt to go a pre-paid route with the Dart, but then you have to plunk down $150 to purchase the phone.More info: http://www.mobileburn.com/news.jsp?Id=15359
Sony Ericsson Xperia PLAY (AT&T) live first look
MobileBurn.com - At AT&T's Holiday Gift Guide event (in July!), we got to see the Sony Ericsson Xperia PLAY that will be coming out later this year. AT&T's version of the Xperia PLAY will have the Sony Ericsson custom interface that we saw on the European model, but was lacking from the Verizon Wireless edition. AT&T was coy about whether this phone would be 4G LTE or "4G" HSPA+, so we will have to wait and see for information on that. Release date and price have yet to be confirmed, but AT&T did promise that it would arrive in time for the holidays.More info: http://www.mobileburn.com/review.jsp?Id=15762
HP TouchPad (AT&T) live first look
MobileBurn.com - AT&T has announced a version of the HP TouchPad tablet that will be running on its HSPA+ network. The TouchPad that will be carried by AT&T is virtually the same as the Wi-Fi model that was released on July 1, but it has the aforementioned HSPA+ radio in it. HP says that this radio is Cat 14 specification, so it is capable of reaching download speeds of up to 21Mbps. The AT&T model will have 32GB of internal storage. AT&T says that it will be available in time for back to school, but it has no revealed an exact release date or price yet.More info: http://mobileburn.com/news.jsp?Id=12860
HP TouchPad webOS tablet video tour - part 2 of 2
MobileBurn.com - The HP TouchPad is HP's first venture into the tablet market with a webOS powered device. It features an all-new version of webOS, 3.0, that is specifically designed for tablets. Despite the new version number, webOS 3.0 has a lot of the same features that its smartphone brethren have, like great multitasking and Synergy support. The TouchPad has a very familiar 9.7-inch display with 1024 x 768 pixels of resolution. Anyone who has used an Apple iPad will instantly feel right at home. The TouchPad is powered by a dual-core, 1.2GHz processor with 1GB of RAM, though that did not prevent it from being slow and sluggish at times, as webOS devices are wont to do. The TouchPad is the closest competitor to the iPad that we have handled thus far, but it still misses the mark, and its faults can be quite frustrating in use.More info: http://mobileburn.com/news.jsp?Id=12860

Google Maps 5.7 for Android offline maps feature
MobileBurn.com - Google released a new version of its Google Maps for Android today, and tucked inside the Labs section is a new, offline maps feature that lets you download map data to the phone. This allows you to access the maps when you are in an area without a data connection, or if you are out of the country and want to avoid roaming data charges. Samsung Exhibit 4G (T-Mobile) live hands-on
MobileBurn.com - We got our first look at the new Samsung Exhibit 4G smartphone from T-Mobile and came away quite impressed. The Exhibit 4G is positioned as a mid-range model, but it features specs that were firmly in the top-end bracket only a year ago. The 3.7-inch display is not bad, and the 1GHz processor pushes around Android 2.3.3 Gingerbread and Samsung's TouchWiz interface with ease. It's especially tempting when you consider that you can get the Exhibit 4G for only $80 after rebate with a new contract at T-Mobile.More info: http://mobileburn.com/news.jsp?Id=15146
Google+ for Android feature demonstration
MobileBurn.com - We managed to snag an invite to Google's new social network, Google+, and promptly downloaded the Google+ for Android app. It is a very familiar looking app if you have used a social network before, as it is very similar to Facebook. The app is clean and very fast though, and offers cool features like automatic photo uploading. We had trouble with the notifications (read: they didn't work at all), and of course, Google+ is a bit lonely at the moment since many users cannot access it. Either way, it shows promise and we look forward to Google's promised improvements in the future. The Google+ app is available for Android phones now, and is expected to hit iOS once it passes Apple's approval process.More info: http://mobileburn.com/news.jsp?Id=15545

HTC EVO View 4G tablet (Sprint) feature tour - part 2 of 2
MobileBurn.com - The HTC EVO View 4G tablet is the version of the HTC Flyer that will be coming to Sprint. The EVO View 4G is almost exactly the same as the Flyer, save for the new black colorscheme and the 3G and 4G wireless radios inside. It runs the same versions of Android 2.3.3 Gingerbread and HTC Sense as the Flyer, and has many of the same apps available. The EVO View 4G is powered by a 1.5GHz, single-core Qualcomm processor and has 1GB of RAM. It is equipped with 32GB of internal storage and has support for microSD cards up to 32GB in capacity. Of course it supports the HTC Scribe pen as well, which Sprint is throwing in gratis with the purchase of the tablet. In this video, we take a look at the hardware and software of the EVO View 4G, and compare it to other 7-inch tablets that are currently on the market.More info: http://mobileburn.com/review.jsp?Id=13638
