Ava Luna was first brought up in my interview with Laura Stevenson. Since then I've been trading emails back and forth with them about having them over for a Pink Couch. This is the 1st recording to use a drum machine, and they also were able to fit 7 people on the couch, beating out Defiance, Ohio. The music flows together perfectly, it's amazing how little I had to do. Definitely check this band out.
This is from a show at 538 Johnson. You can't really hear the vocals, but at least we were able to shoot from above. Slingshot Dakota, Captain We're Sinking, Nude Beach, Spraynard and Sundials also played.
At the very last minute I realized that the Loved Ones' Dave Hause would be coming through the city for a couple of shows with Brian Fallon of the Gaslight Anthem. I quickly shot an email over to the invaluable Vanessa at Fat Wreck (thanks to Bryne for reminding me). Within two days of the show we were able to figure out a window of time that Dave could come over. Dave is currently recording a solo album before he returns his attention back to the Loved Ones record. He's also going on a short tour in February through Canada and Midwest US.
From their last show at Death By Audio in Williamsburg. I have a bunch more footage, but I thought this one looked really great, and showed all the people who loved this band during their brief stint together. Watch Brian hit the high note.
This was from a great show at Philadelphia's Terrordome. I had recently heard of FSTT from some random internet sleuthing, and was excited to see that they were playing our show. It's sounds like a combination of Braid and the staccato guitar tone of Kickball. Check back on Wednesday for a free download of their EP.
This is from the holiday show at Death By Audio that Jeff from Bomb the Music Industry! hosted. I was really excited to see them play this, considering that I had missed them a couple of times throughout the year. This is the last thing I'll post for the rest of the year. Happy New Year's everyone. Buy "Weight of Air".
In celebration of the new year, I'm posting a pink couch from my favorite band of '09. Over the last year, I fell in love with the Sam EP and overplayed Weight of Air to the point of exhaustion. They've made a lot of Top 10 lists this year, and for a good reason. Check back later today for some live footage from their show at Death By Audio.
Coming down from New Paltz way, Klessa features some of the best people that the little town has to offer. The band manages to combine many different instruments into an amazing full sounding package. They put on an amazing live show that you should definitely check out. Klessa recently released "Aloha DemonS"
From Maxwell's basement in Hoboken, NJ. We assembled Dave Davison, Good Old War and Hezikiah Jones to create an amazing backing band for Cast Spells. Sorry about any shaking, it was really cramped in there, and I had a hard time getting everything.
Audio Download available at http://www.ifyoumakeit.com/video/kevin-devine/another-bag-of-bones/ Kevin of Big Scary Monsters Records gave me the contact for this Kevin, who I've been following since his days in the Miracle of '86. Despite some BQE traffic, we were able to squeeze him onto the big stinky couch. I'm really glad we did. This song is off of his recent 7 inch on Academy Fight Song. You can buy it here. http://www.academyfightsong.com/releases.html
Another video from this year's Berea Fest in Berea, Ohio. Sorry about the crazy camera movements, I didn't have my tripod and I had to hold the camera over my head. This is off their 5 Song EP "Have You Heard?"
