In this episode we look back on some of the activities of the past year while we wondered around Hajdú-Bihar and Bihor. It is a selection of the best actions of Bryn Watkins, while he was learning new things, exploring wonderful natural sights, and meeting interesting people. He was trying out nearly everything that was possible from food to insane sport activities. It's an appetizer of outtakes as not everything went smoothly for the first time. This is episode is full of hunting activities, as Bryn explores an alternative side of Oradea. He is hunting for iron men (off-road bikers) in the mountains, hunting for cool kids in bars on a Saturday night and hunting for a present on the flee market. Home from Home - Episode 9
This episode is full of extreme challenges. While we explore Hajdúszoboszló, Bryn jumps out of a plane, tries out the standing surf, slides from high points and hangs himself by the neck to try out a special treatment. However the Thai massage and the great summer lunch blot out his harder times. A real summer adventure!
Home from Home - Episode 8
In this episode we explore the river Crisul and its surroundings. It's 1st May, so it's camping time in Romania! Bryn tries to set up a tent and he definitely needs help. He prepares mici, a Romanian kebab on open fire and enjoys camping. Bryn and his friend Edgar meet a miller who plays a special local instrument that is the combination of a violin and a trumpet. Risking his life, he crosses a chain bridge as well. This episode focuses on the Easter traditions of Hungary and Romania. Bryn visits several churches and is astonished by the ornaments of the Orthodox Church. He finds out about folk customs as well and prepares a sticky food. He visits Oradea, Debrecen, Hajdúdorog, Hajdúböszörmény and at the end he collects a lot of eggs. What for? The Cseresznye Youth Office organised a training about the international youth exchanges in May 2009. The participants arrived to the city of Gyor from several points of Hungary in order to get better at organising international programs for the youngsters. Rhythms in Educating Youth
The Foundation with Music and Rhythm introduces African drums, tales and dances. At one of their performances they raised the attention of 6 young people who wanted to learn more about these special percussion instruments. With the support of the Youth in Action Programme they started a youth initiative in which they had a drum-course and a series of events where the percussions of many nations were introduced to the public. www.hangkep.hu
Green side of Budapest, Go Green
The Green side of Budapest, Go Green! This was the title of the project that was initiated by the volunteers and young activists of the Messzelátó Association. This time not the building of the Parliament, or the Castle of Buda or the historical surroundings of the Andrássy street came to the focus, but the Green Side of Budapest was introduced by young people to the foreign visitors of the Hungarian capital. www.hangkep.hu
Sports for everyone – LASS Association
It was really fun to participate at the international seminar that was organised by the Sports and Leisure Association for the Visually Impaired. The participants arrived from 9 different European countries to the “Sports for everyone” program. Their aim was to exchange good practices on the methods through which the visually impaired youngsters can participate at different, sometimes even extreme sports. www.hangkep.hu
Our Art – Európai Duna Akadémia
Young people from five countries all over Europe got together in Budapest to get to know each others culture. They used the tools of dance, music, fine arts and theatre to work on these topics. In the meantime they had not only fun, but they also learnt a lot about other European nations and cultures, about their similarities and differences. One week around art. During the youth exchange 35 Estonian, Polish, Czech, Italian and Hungarian youngsters explored the common cultural roots. www.hangkep.hu
