Intervista a Mauro Manfredini presso il Cersaie di Leonardo TV16-9
The story of Casalgrande Padana stands out for its pertinence; the company’s President, Mr. Franco Manfredini, proudly recounts its strengths. This pivotal company is located at the heart of the Sassuolo cluster, the undisputed reference area for ceramic processing and production excellence worldwide. This product, like few others, is capable of conveying the strength and character of our vital and competitive Made in Italy, based on the know-how and success of an entire community. In its over 50 years in the business, Casalgrande Padana and its Research Centre collected an incredible wealth of knowledge, developed innovative products and state-of-the-art technical solutions. One example is Bios ® Antibacterial Ceramics, a revolutionary fully vitrified stoneware slab line that stands out for its incredible antibacterial features.Collective success, though – continues Manfredini – has also to do with environmental performance: “ “the very DNA of our company rests in the production of evolved and environmentally-friendly ceramic material and the provision of innovative solutions for today’s architecture, in a perfect balance between economic growth, technology advancement, sensible use of natural resources, environmental protection and social responsibility”.“Made in Italy - concludes Manfredini – does not mean beauty and luxury only, but also ethos, commitment and a sense of responsibility. All this allows to turn a product into an experience to share”.
CCCloud di Kengo Kuma. La produzione e costruzione dell'opera
The creation of a new road below the ceramics district of Sassuolo-Casalgrande induced Casalgrande Padana to open a new “access” to the company, redefining at the same time the relation between the industrial area, the site and the new Ceramic Museum. Kuma proposed an imposing ceramic “wall” towering over the area.

We were asked by the world wide known ceramic tile maker Casalgrande Padana to create a monument for a road roundabout in front of their facilities’ entrance.Being able to work with such a capable manufacturer, we took the challenge of involving the ceramic tile as an architectural element itself, avoiding its conventional use as a mere cladding. Just after developing with Casalgrande Padana’s team the specific detail of how to panel and connect their standard ceramic tiles, we understood the possibilities of how to assembly and organize them creating different structures.Kengo kumacontinues on: www.materialdesign.it
Interviste a Kengo Kuma Alfonso Acocella Luigi Alini
