La Voute Nubienne is a Citizen Sector Organization which aim, in sub-Saharan Africa, and other regions with similar environments, to promote the construction of vaulted earth brick houses which are environmentally friendly, affordable, and comfortable, using a now well-proven technique: la Voute Nubienne (VN). The VN technique, a simplified, standardised, adaptation of traditional methods from the Nubian region of Egypt, is relatively unknown in the Sahel and West Africa. Depuis 2000, l’association La Voûte Nubienne a lancé le programme « Des toits de terre au Sahel ». Par une solution économique intelligente, ce programme répond aux besoins de progrès social (santé, confort, salubrité) des populations démunies des régions sahéliennes. Il permet d’implanter, organiser, contrôler et soutenir le développement du marché de la voûte nubienne, technique de construction écologique de bâtiments particulièrement adaptée au contexte socioculturel local.
