Reliquary of Bl. Louis & Zelie Martin, Lisieux
The reliquary of Blessed Louis & Zelie Martin, parents of St. Therese, is displayed for the first time after their mass of beatification on Sunday,Oct. 19th, 2008 in the Basilica of St. Therese in Lisieux. The reliquary was so heavy that they were unable to carry it in procession at the beatification mass. O Sacrum Convivium: "O holy banquet, in which Christ is consumed, the memory of His passion is recalled, the mind is filled with thanksgiving, and a promise is given to us of future glory. Alleluia." Sung by the University of Wisconsin-Madison Concert Choir.

St Therese Chapel Alencon
A view of the chapel attached to the house where St. Therese was born in Alencon, France on Jan.2,1877. The wall between the chapel and the house has been removed permitting pilgrims to view the room and the bed Therese was born in. Her mother, Zelie, also died in this bed. The prayer service going on is to celebrate the upcoming beatification of St Therese's parents, Louis & Zelie Martin the following day in Lisieux. The house is undergoing renovation until 2009 so the chapel was opened specially for pilgrims during beatification weekend.
St Therese's baptism, Alencon
This is a view of the side chapel in Notre-Dame d'Alencon Church where St. Therese was baptised on Jan.4, 1873. The chapel is now dedicated to her. Shown is the baptismal font and her christening gown is displayed on the wall to the left. There was a great deal of noise in the church because the video was filmed shortly before the Pontifical Mass on Oct.18, 2008 celebrating the upcoming beatification of Louis & Zelie Martin in Lisieux the next day. The choir was rehearsing in the background.
St Therese's Carmel communion
This shows the Carmelite nuns from St. Therese's convent in Lisieux, France receiving communion from Cardinal Jose Saraiva Martins, prefect emeritus of the Causes of the Saints. The chapel had just been reopened in May 2008 after renovation and the nuns' choir is now in front. Cardinal Martins was in Lisieux for the beatification of Louis & Zelie Martins which took place on Sunday Oct. 19, 2008 in the basilica.
St Therese's Carmel Vespers
Vespers in St Therese's Carmel de Lisieux on Oct. 15, 2008, the feast of St. Teresa of Avila. This section begins with prayer intentions offered; the Therese referred to is St. Teresa of Avila. The Our Father is then sung. With the recent remodeling of the chapel, the nuns' choir is moved to the front of the chapel in the open, not off to the side as before.

Zelie Martin's lace
During a costumed evening visiting the family possessions of the Martin & Guerin families, Zelie Martin explains her lacemaking business for the point d'Alencon. Uncle Isidore holds up a small square of paper and says it took 60 hours of labor and 9 lacemakers to produce a piece of lace the size of that square. Zelie assembled the pieces of lace into the finished product. This was filmed in Lisieux on Oct. 16, 2008
Possessions of St Therese's father, Louis Martin
Uncle Isidore Guerin highlights some possessions belonging to Louis Martin. He mentions Zelie's jewelry, not visible and asks why so little jewelry of Therese remains---because she gave it to the Basilica at Montmartre in Paris to be melted for the monstrance. Some books are mentioned that the family read in the evening such as L'Annee liturgique de Dom Gueranger.He mentions also a sculpture of Louis' hair shaped as flowers, his pocket watch with his childrens' names engraved on it, his coin purse containing an 1873 coin of 5 francs he kept as a remembrance of Therese's birth. Lastly he shows the little traveling bag that Louis allowed Therese to carry on the pilgrimage to Rome. This was filmed on Oct. 16, 2008 during a costumed evening visit to the St. Jacques exhibit hall in Lisieux where possessions of the Martin and Guerin family were displayed.

Visit to St. Therese's Uncle Guerin
St. Therese's uncle Isidore Guerin describes the Guerin dining room where he has the Maudelonde cousins seated in his chair and Aunt Celine Guerin's chair. He speaks of little Therese's visits to him where he held her on his knee and told stories of Bluebeard that terrified her. He also mentions and points to an 1894 painting by Celine Martin(not visible in video)of St. John of the Cross, the year she entered Carmel. He explains that Celine painted a lot before and after entering Carmel and that the Carmel of Lisieux has 80 of her paintings. The video was filmed during the costumed evening visit to the St Jacques exhibit hall on Oct. 16, 2008.
Louis Martin's gift to St. Therese
Uncle Isidore Guerin shows a gift Louis Martin made for his daughter Therese. Isidore asks the crowd if it is a little music machine, a pencil sharpener, a bobbin for film. It turns out to be a spool for Therese to wind the silk from the cocoons of her silkworms. This was filmed at the costumed evening presentation at the St. Jacques exhibit hall on Oct. 16, 2008 in Lisieux.
