Xerfi Canal a reçu Jean-Luc Gaffard, directeur à l'OFCE du département de recherche sur l'Innovation et la Concurrence et professeur des universités qui a présenté son dernier ouvrage "Capitalisme et Cohésion sociale" (éd. Economica)En dépit de la crise en cours, les décideurs restent prisonniers de vieilles idées qui ont consisté à célébrer une nouvelle économie débarrassée de tout conflit et de toute instabilité. Pourtant la réalité du moment comme tous les grands épisodes de l'histoire économique récente du capitalisme témoignent de la récurrence de changements structurels aux conséquences jamais anticipées qui créent les conditions de cette instabilité. La maîtrise des. fluctuations reste un enjeu essentiel. Elle ne saurait être réalisée en appliquant les règles intangibles et en imaginant pouvoir construire un équilibre fuit de flexibilité des marchés et de neutralité des gouvernements, au mépris de la démocratie et de la cohésion sociale. Elle requiert frictions et rigidités sur les marchés, activisme monétaire et budgétaire impliquant de résoudre les inévitables conflits d'objectif et d'intérêts au moyen d'arbitrages qui relèvent du débat démocratique et privilégient la cohésion sociale. La mondialisation des échanges, dont il ne faut pas ignorer les effets bénéfiques, n'implique pas que l'on doive renoncer à un modèle économique et social qui a fait ses preuves dans les économies développées. Elle ne sera viable que s 'il est répondu à l'extension du marché par une extension du champ de l'action politique obéissant aux mêmes principes de régulation et de recherche de cohésion sociale.Jean-Luc Gaffard est économiste, directeur du département de recherche sur l'innovation et la concurrence de l'OFCE, professeur des Universités, membre de l'Institut Universitaire de France, de la SKEMA Business School et du CNRS-GREDEG.

A Bridge to Fashion and Luxury
SKEMA a déjà posé un pied dans le marché du luxe et de la mode en Chine. Mardi 22 novembre, notre école a présenté « The bridge to Luxury and Fashion », un évènement du luxe et de la mode organisé par les étudiants du Master of Science Management du luxe et de la mode. Il s’est déroulé au Centre de l’Art et de la culture de Suzhou et visait à promouvoir la tradition du luxe et l’avenir des cultures françaises et chinoises.Le spectacle a débuté avec un ballet acrobatique chinois traditionnel, avant de se poursuivre par un défilé de mode qui a mélangé des créations de nos étudiants eux-mêmes, des étudiants du Collège du textile de l’université de Caroline du Nord, de Malini Ramani (n°1 des designers indiens), comme des toilettes de couturiers célèbres tels Christian Dior, Hermès, Thierry Mugler, Christian Llinares, Zilli, Fabindia, Yves Saint Laurent, et beaucoup d’autres.200 invités ont assisté à cette soirée parmi lesquels des représentants du gouvernement français et du gouvernement chinois.
Tourism Futures Conference
SKEMA Business School through its Centre for Tourism Management and the European Tourism Futures Institute (ETFI) signed in November a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) and agreed to collaborate on projects related to tourism research within a European network.SKEMA is the only French representative in this network and will also serve as a link between the European network and other research institutes in France.SKEMA professor (marketing, Sophia Antipolis) Girish Prayag attended the first meeting of the International Network for Tourism Futures Studies which took place in Stenden at the European Tourism Futures Institute on November 2-5 together with a conference on tourism futures: http://www.etfi.eu/conference .SKEMA was selected by the ETFI as their French partner because of the excellent and prolific research our Centre for Tourism Management has produced in the past few years. The ETFI is part-financed by the EU, the European Regional Development Fund, as well as Dutch provinces and municipalities. As a reminder, the Centre for Tourism Management is also involved in an EU-funded research consortium that develops and tests an innovative research methodology that uses mobile devices to improve the service design process in tourism.
