Soprano Jacquelynne Fontaine and Tenor Jesús León sing "Signor nè principe....Addio, addio" from Rigoletto by Giuseppi Verdi. at the 12th Annual Opera In The Park on March 28, 2010. Maestro Valery Ryvkin, Conducts. This very popuar event held in beautiful Sunrise Park in Palm Springs California drew an audience of almost 5000 community members this year and is sponsored by the Palm Springs Opera Guild. Many of these performers are winners from the annual Vocal Cash Scholarship Awards Competition held in Decemeber each year. Audtions are held in November in Palm Springs and Los Angeles and are open to young men and women between the ages of 18-30 in the tri-state area of California, Arizona and Nevada. An extensive Youth Outreach program takes place in June each year and brings opera into the schools of the Coachella Valley reaching almost 14,000 students in grades K-12 with performances geared to the appropriate grade levels. Palm Springs Opera In The Park 2010 Rehearsal: Nessun dorma (English: None shall sleep) is an aria from the final act of Giacomo Puccini's opera Turandot,and is one of the best-known tenor arias in all opera. It is sung by Calaf, il principe ignoto (the unknown prince), who falls in love at first sight with the beautiful but cold Princess Turandot. However, any man who wishes to wed Turandot must first answer her three riddles; if he fails, he will be beheaded.
