MARADONA - THE GREATEST football player of all time. This is a feature program about the God-like human being who could control a game like no other player. This video salutes him and his tribute to the world of football.
Sheffield United-supporters traditionally sing this song, based on John Denver’s “Annie’s song”, a pretty odd choice for a football crowd but highly efficient nonetheless. With lyrics like these it certainly suits this Northern English industrial town: “You fill up my senses, like a gallon of Magnet*, like a packet of Woodbines*, like a good pinch of snuff*, like a night out in Sheffield, like a greasy chip butty*, like Sheffield United, come fill me again.”* Magnet: a beer from Yorkshire brewery John Smiths, *Woodbines: classical unfiltered cigarettes, *Snuff: smokeless tobacco, *Chip butty: sandwich with fries
One of the more curious derbies in Italy is the Genoa encounter between Genoa and Sampdoria. For many years the violence and crowd disorder so often attached to Italian league matches have been absent from this historic port city and its big local confrontation. However, it still produces an amazing atmosphere, even when the two teams meet each other in the second best division. Back in 2001 we visited Genoa to witness it.
