The 2012/13 World Snowboard Tour Season truly introduced a new level of competitive snowboarding. Triple Corks were the state of the art trick to take the top spots. At the first 6 Star Event of the Season, the Air & Style in Beijing in December, Yuki Kadono took top honors with his Backside Triple Cork 1440. At the following O’Neill Evolution in January, in Davos, Switzerland it was up to Maxence Parrot to take first place with a Backside Triple Cork 1440. At the same event Kyle Mack came second, as he attempted to beat Maxence with a Triple Rodeo Indy 1440 - a trick never performed in a contest before. The X Games in Aspen closely followed, where Mark McMorris gave a glance of his incredible level of riding and defended his Gold medal title in Slopestyle with the highest ever score in X Games Slopestyle history with 98 points, finishing with a Triple Cork 1440 on the last jump. In episode 9 of “Almost Live” Season 5, Exum Mountain Guide Zahan Billimoria teams up with Jackson Hole athletes, Griffin Post and Max Hammer, to take on the Apocalypse Couloir in Grand Teton National Park. Get an intimate glimpse inside the effort it takes to ski the remote, steep couloir. The team makes a series of repels, committing them to the dangerous line. The boys then drop into the 3000 foot line, which is as steep as 50 degrees in some areas. They are faced with falling ice and unstable snow which add to their thrilling pursuit. On April 16th and 17th the fourth edition of the Head Jib Factory took place. 20 invited riders from all over the world came to Germany to join this session. The setup was the best one we´ve had so far, so check out the guys enjoying two days of spring shredding and BBQ.

At the O’Neill Roof Battle last Saturday at the Superpark Dachstein, the best riders of the QParks Freeski Tour battled for the overall Tour victory. In a dramatic final on the rail line, the riders were once again showing off with awesome tricks. Now the overall winners are crowned and tons of goodies and more than EUR 5.000,- in prize money have found a new owner!Congratulations to the winners of the QParks Tour 2012/2013, happy summer and see you next season, when it’s once again TIME TO SHINE at the QParks Freeski Tour 2013/14!

One day after the supposed Armageddon, the same atmosphere dominated the morning of the QParks Tour stop Blue Tomato Plan P at the Superpark Planai. Fog and strong snowfalls reduced visibility, difficult conditions during the qualifications. The contest setup, consisting of 4 different jib and kicker obstacles in a row, was hardly to see and riders could no better than guess the outlines of the obstacles. But nevertheless more than 50 top motivated freeskiers aged between 12 and more than 30 years came to the Superpark Planai and showed that the weather isn’t the most important thing when it comes to freestyle. Having a good time with friends and shredding together a pre-Christmas contest, that’s what it was all about.
