December 7th 2010 will go down in Irish History as one of the darkest days since the creation of the State. It is the day that a FF Government bowed to pressure from EU money men, by introducing a crippling Budget and Austerity package that targeted the most vulnerable in Irish Society through short term badly thought out policies and tax measures. Rather than tackle real problems, they opted instead not to put the Country first and instead chose to once again use the budget process as an election platform. While members of the Dail voted, outside, thousands of concerned citizens rallied and protested at what was being decided in their names. One of the groups which rallied was the United Left Alliance. Please watch this video and share with your friends, families and work colleagues. At this period in time Irish politics does NOT have a two sided argument (The established opposition is too similar to the sitting government). Irish politics needsA Real Opposition - A Real Left.
Joe Higgins (MEP) and Cllr. Richard Boyd Barrett speak at the Dublin Protest Demonstration against the Irish Governments 4 yr plan and austerity measures. They announce their intention to unify the "left" in the forthcoming general election and provide a "real" alternative to the incumbent government parties and the established alternatives under the name"United Left Alliance".PLEASE SPREAD THE WORD.DON'T sit on the fence and look back in 6 months time wondering how did we let this happen...?
