Andy Panda - Dog Tax Dodgers (1948)
Andy reads in the newspaper that dog catcher Wally Walrus is coming to collect $3.00 worth of dog tax from every dog owner. Being kind of a cheapskate, he hides his dog in the closet from Wally's presence but, upon entering Andy's house, Wally still suspects something is amiss. He uses a trained flea to reveal the dog who gets chased by Wally into a pond in the backyard. After "fishing" the dog out, Wally demands Andy pay his $3.00 but both are in for a surprise: the dog has an entire litter of puppies each worth an additional $3.00!
Woody Woodpecker - Drooler's Delight (1949)
On a hot summer day, Woody hears a radio commercial for the latest thirst quencher, a 25-cent ice cream soda called the Drooler's Delight. Finding that he has exactly one quarter on him, he heads for the malt shop but draws the attention of the greedy Buzz Buzzard. The two adversaries play a variety of sneaky tricks on each other to steal the quarter back and forth; the contest ends when Woody, disguised as a woman, leads Buzz on a chase that causes him to knock himself out against a wall. When Woody reaches the malt shop and orders his Drooler's Delight, he is surprised to find Buzz as the soda jerk, who stuffs Woody into a glass and mixes him up with the ingredients. However, Woody drinks the whole thing down from inside the glass and gets the last laugh on Buzz.
Barney Bear - Wee-Willy Wildcat (1953)
Barney is doing his chores when he overhears neighbor William Wildcat threating to tan his son's hide "til it glows in the dark". Barney explains to the father that any child can be tamed using psychology and uses a handy book to help look after his neighbor's son. However, Willie Wildcat is evil to the core. When they try playing "Pin-the-tail-on-the-donkey", Willie gets Barney kicked by a real donkey. When Barney bakes Willie a cake, Willie fills it with gas from the stove and it explodes. Finally, Barney takes the last chapter's advice ("If all else fails, BOTTOMS UP!") and he joins his neighbor in spanking the youngster.
Barney Bear - Cobs and Robbers (1953)
Barney is plagued by crows. Joe Scarecrow comes along and, using a wind-up puppet, gets the crows to follow it out in a conga line. He then tells Barney everything is under control only to remove his scarecrow costume when Barney leaves, revealing two more crows. The crows get the best of Barney, eventually turning his field into popped corn.
Pluto and the Armadillo (1943)
While awaiting a refueling stop at Belem, Brazil, Mickey and Pluto get off the plane to stretch and relax. Pluto chases his rubber ball into the forest where he comes across a curled-up armadillo, who Pluto mistakes for his ball - since the ball and armadillo are the same colors. After playing with the armadillo, Pluto chases it after it laughs at him. The armadillo hides, leaving the ball in view. When Pluto attacks the ball so violently that it explodes, he mistakenly thinks he has killed the armadillo. The armadillo comes out from hiding, leaving Pluto very relieved. At that moment, Mickey runs up and scoops up Pluto and the "ball," hurrying to get back on board before the plane takes off. Mickey is very surprised when the ball turns into an armadillo after the plane has taken off.
Merrie Melodies - The Mouse On 57th Street (1961)
A mouse in a yellow hat helps himself to what he thinks is a huge lump of cheese in a bakery but, after chewing a hole straight through it, realizes that it is really rum cake, which has made him more than a little drunk. The mouse staggers away, hiccupping. The next morning, he has a severe hangover, and sounds of drilling at a nearby construction site give him excruciating pain. He grabs the nearest piece of ice he can find to apply to his head, and again he has made a mistake. The ice is the Sunflame Diamond, and two policemen, one of them a lunkhead, are assigned to investigate the "theft" of the jewel. They bungle all their attempts to catch the mouse, who has the jewel tied to his head.
