Maria Kalaniemi, a master of free-bass button accordion, is one of Finland's leading contemporary accordionists. Once a member of pioneering groups Niekku and Aldargaz, from the famed Sibelius Academy Folk Music Department, where she now teaches, her roots are in folk and classical music but her sights and abilities go far beyond existing styles. Technically brilliant as a player, and adept at improvisation, she is also a very powerful, intuitive and sensitive composer, with pieces that stylistically touch in numerous areas but feature her own personality as the driving force. John Trudell - (Hanging From The Cross) Part 1
John Trudell (born February 15, 1946) is an American author, poet, musician, and former political activist. Trudell was born in Omaha, Nebraska. He is the son of a Santee Sioux father and a Mexican mother. He grew up around the Santee reservation near Omaha. He joined the Navy in 1963 and served in the Vietnam war. After getting out of the military he became involved in Indian activism and became the spokesperson for the Indians of All Tribes occupation of Alcatraz Island. He joined the American Indian Movement and, although not officially voted in, was its national Chairman from 1972 until 1979 after Carter Camp went to jail. In 1979, his mother-in-law, pregnant wife (Tina Manning), and three children were killed in a tragic fire, an event that led him to his "hanging on lines", his spoken word. It is famously believed that his family was murdered by the government[citation needed]. A meeting with Jackson Browne in 1979 introduced him to the musical world. His first album, originally made with brilliant (according to Bob Dylan[citation needed]) Kiowa guitarist Jesse Ed Davis and originally available only on cassette tape, was A.K.A Graffiti Man. In 1992 he remade A.K.A Graffiti Man; more recent endeavors include Blue Indians (1999) and Bone Days.

The Beatles - Free As A Bird
Free as a bird, it's the next best thing to be. Free as a bird. Home, home and dry, like a homing bird I'll fly as a bird on wings. Whatever happened to the life that we once knew? Can we really live without each other? Where did we lose the touch that seemed to mean so much? It always made me feel so... Free as a bird, like the next best thing to be. Free as a bird. Home, home and dry, like a homing bird I'll fly as a bird on wings. Whatever happened to the life that we once knew? Always made me feel so free. Free as a bird. It's the next best thing to be. Free as a bird. Free as a bird. Free as a bird.

Tom Petty - Angel Dream
I dreamed you, I saw your face. Cut my lifeline when drifting through space. I saw an angel, I saw my fate. I can only thank God it was not too late. . Over mountains, I floated away. Cross an ocean, I dreamed her name. I followed an angel down through the gates. I can only thank God it was not too late. Sing a little song of loneliness, Sing one to make me smile. Another round for everyone, I'm here for a little while. Now I'm walkin' This street on my own. But she's with me Everywhere I go. Yeah, I found an angel, I found my place. I can only thank God it was not too late. I can only thank God it was not too late.
Tom Petty - Learning To Fly (Live)
Well I started out down a dirty road Started out all alone And the sun went down, as I crossed the hill And the town lit up, the world got still I'm learning to fly, but I ain't got wings Coming down is the hardest thing Well the good ol' days, may not return And the rocks might melt & the sea may burn I'm learning to fly, but I ain't got wings Coming down is the hardest thing Well some say life will beat you down, break your heart, steal your crown So I've started out, for God knows where I guess I'll know when I get there I'm learning to fly, around the clouds, But what goes up must come down I'm learning to fly, but I ain't got wings Coming down is the hardest thing

Rita Coolidge - Don't Cry Out Loud (Live 1979 Tokyo)
Baby cried the day the circus came to town 'cause she didn't want parades just passin' by her So she painted on a smile and took up with some clown While she danced without a net upon the wire I know a lot about 'er 'cause, you see Baby is an awful lot like me Don't cry out loud Just keep it inside, learn how to hide your feelings Fly high and proud And if you should fall, remember you almost had it all Baby saw that when they pulled that big top down They left behind her dreams among the litter The different kind of love she thought she'd found There was nothin' left but sawdust and some glitter But baby can't be broken 'cause you see She had the finest teacher-that was me-I told 'er Don't cry out loud Just keep it inside and learn how to hide your feelings Fly high and proud And if you should fall, remember you almost had it all Don't cry out loud Just keep it inside and learn how to hide your feelings Fly high and proud And if you should fall, remember you almost made it Don't cry out loud Just keep it inside and learn how to hide your feelings Fly high and proud And if you should fall, remember you almost had it all
Kris Kristofferson & Rita Coolidge - Help Me Make It Through
Take the ribbons from your hair Shake it loose and let it fall Lay it soft against you skin Like the shadows on the wall Come and lay here by my side Till the early morning light All I'm takin' is your time Help me make it through the night I don't know what's right or wrong I don't try to understand Let the devil take tomorrow 'Cause tonight I need a friend Yesterday's dead and gone And tomorrow's out of sight Yes, it's sad to be alone Help me make it through the night Yes, it's sad to be alone.... Help me make it through the night.
