Musicians with a similar course in local Portuguese bands found a common place: the desire to create music. All the five musicians are from the same city and they got their first rehearsal in January 2008. The first stone was placed in the foundations of this growing building...The band sought to define an own sound, without being pretentious, enjoying a relaxed and positive attitude, which allowed the flow of previous musical experiences from each member. Loud sounds of guitar, songs with rhythms marked clichés and some innovative ideas, originated the music of REDLIZZARD. The lyrics and melodies shines in the positive attitude with strong messages and a curious and critical stand about the everyday, setting the style of the musical collective.In April 2008, with original songs already written, they ventured into the studio and recorded these first creations. The result was four themes that were used to introduce the band. As with all bands, REDLIZZARD climbed on stage to show what they conceived in a show of strength and creativity. During 2009, the band got the first awards in their performances. In a contest Rock Music Alive '09, at the Paradise Garage, they were awarded with a creditable second place and in November of the same year, REDLIZZARD were the 2nd band most voted online in the contest Levi's Unfamous Award, having also been nominated for best new artist at the 2009 Main Stage website.During 2010, they were present in several finals of music competitions, having won the 4th Competition in Pop-Rock Grândola 2010 and got the 4th place for a Garage Bands Competition. Still in 2010 they've finished the year with a 2nd place in a Modern Music contest and at home they end up wining the competition Battle of the Bands 2010, supported by a national radio, Super FM.REDLIZZARD began the year of 2011 participating in more two finals competitions; one of them is one of the most prestigious national competitions, XVI Corroios Music Festival, an the other was the 2nd Rock 'N' BEE in the north. Despite being ranked #2 in Corroios, the band was praised by the organization in the Festival site:"REDLIZZARD managed a stunning display perfectly to tread the stages of great festivals in Portugal and the rest of the world".Still in 2011, the band was considered by the public Best Live Band at the 5th Music Competition in Setúbal but the best was still to come when they were the big winners of the Competition "Have a Nice Day on the Stage with" Bon Jovi "! REDLIZZARD were the opening act last July 31 for the Bon Jovi Concert in Lisbon for 56,000 people. They were BIG, with an excellent reception from the public. In August the band was invited to attend the program "Total Summer" for a national television network, which gave them the opportunity to present their work to millions...In November 2011, REDLIZZARD were nominated in two categories, "Best Alternative / Pop Band" and "Best International Band" for the "THE UPPER STATE INDEPENDENT AWARDS" (Site: http://usiawards.com/) in the United States which they ended up wining both.During the year 2010 and part of the 2011 REDLIZZARD headed back to the studio, where they recorded new songs and new arrangements made in previous songs. The song that they played is 'Walk in Memories' composed by the Keyboardist SUNGEUN KWON, showing the sensibility of 20's. Now she plays in front of people. For those who knew Kina as the shy and self-proclaimed-awkward songstress who escaped into her collegiate stairwells to practice and play in privacy, the idea of playing in front of inanimate objects might actually seem fitting. But between those who travel across state and country lines to her sold out live shows and those navigating through her extensive library of YouTube videos, it's quite clear that Kina is hardly playing for no one.In 2007, after four years at USC (where she recorded and self-released three EPs) and a brief move to Austin, TX, Kina joined YouTube, made a music video and entered herself into Doritos' Crash The Super Bowl contest. While diligently generating music for the better part of a year, the search for a vocalist began. Through numerous tryouts, the trio found their fit. Vocalist, Alex Davidiuk brought an energy and charisma that shined through in his delivery and lyrical content. With the pieces in place, January 2011 brought forth the beginning of "The Blackout Heist." T.B.H. hit the studio with Dylan Brady and began crafting three songs that would define what the band had evolved into. "Surf 'N' Murder" allows listeners to experience rock and roll in its purest form. "The Sting" showcases the abilities of the band's diverseness. His early years were spent growing up in a family of music and musicians. His father Ustaad Shujaat Khan is today one of the most sought after musicians of our time. His grandfather Ustaad Vilayat Khan is considered to be the legend of the sitar. This makes Azaan the 8th generation of Ustaad Imdaad Khani gharana of music.Azaan studied at the Mother International School, where his inclination towards music started taking shape. He bought his beginners guitar and enrolled at the Delhi School of Music.Soon after this, at the age of 14, his interest in music turned into a passion, and he started performing at various school festivals. He started evolving in several different directions within the world of music. As he turned to a new mentor, Mr.Gussy Rikh, who was the lead guitarist of the band Euphoria, to teach him techniques of the electric guitar. Also, all throughout his formative years, the Riyaaz sessions held at home, where his father taught difficult compositions (bandishes) to his senior students, took deep roots within him, which allowed him to sing these bandishes with ease. The unique blend of having the knowledge of western classical as well as Indian classical music helped him to make his own niche in the young world of upcoming college musicians.In the past couple of years, Azaan has found different facets to his musical creativity. He has started writing his own lyrics, he composes all his music and he sings and plays the guitar in all his compositions, the uniqueness being that he is actually comfortable doing all this in western and Indian music. At the moment, he is working on his first album, where he is bringing together this four dimensional creativity. Many aspects of Indian and folk music are predominant in his compositions, in addition to which he has enthused the western characteristics of compositions like harmonies and chords. Many elements of Sufi'ism are also visible in his work.Although he has performed many times in college cultural festivals, he has even accompanied his father Ustaad Shujaat Khan in concerts. Notable amongst them are events in New York in July, where he played for the United Nations World Hindi Conference, New Delhi in august at the India Habitat Centre. In the same year, he has also toured Mauritius and South Africa. The following winter, he performed in Delhi for a gala charity event to raise funds for Smile India. The curly haired guitar player and flip-flop enthusiast has been playing around town for the past few years, and is currently supporting his debut record My Autumn, which recently became available on itunes. We were able to steal Russ for a performance of his song 'Wasting Dimes' while he prepared to play Edmonton's Open Sky Music Festival. Russ played on the Sunday of a festival weekend plagued with rain, but just before he took the stage, he said the storm stopped and people could finally listen to some music in the sun.
