Batman: Arkham Origins’ expanded world on the streets of Gotham City, Deep Silver makes a stab at top three video game publishers, and Splinter Cell Blacklist confirmed for additional platform, THIS IS NICK’S GAMING VIEW! Hello everyone and welcome to Nick’s Gaming View, you are here with your host, Nick McCandless. The just announced Batman: Arkham Origins, slated for release on October 25th for PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, Wii U, and PC with no current mention of an appearance on next-generation consoles, will not only be developed in-house at Warner Bros. Games Montreal ditching Rocksteady Studios, but will take place long before both existing Arkham releases. The first Arkham game set on the streets of Gotham City, Arkham Origins will feature a “younger Batman within a fresh storyline and expanded world.” Featuring a more sandbox approach compared to the previous releases, Warner Bros. is dedicated to delivering a truly innovative experience in the world of Batman and with the game’s lead being the man behind The Incredible Hulk: Ultimate Destruction and Prototype, much anticipation is established for the third release in Batman’s Arkham series. Deep Silver, publisher of Dead Island, has claimed they are “much better than the Activision's, EAs, and Ubisofts of the world” because they actually make money thanks to genius marketing they implement that larger companies wouldn’t try. Known for establishing the Dead Island franchise before acquiring Metro: Last Light and Saints Row 4, Deep Silver has established their very own establishment as a division of privately-held entertainment distribution company, Koch Media. While the statement may seem very direct, it brings up a good point that large organizations aren’t necessarily needed in order to succeed in the video game business. Wrapping up Nick’s Gaming View, Splinter Cell Blacklist, originally exclusive to PC, Xbox 360, and PlayStation 3, has been confirmed for Nintendo’s latest platform, the Wii U. Releasing day-and-date with the other platform releases, according to Ubisoft, Splinter Cell Blacklist will showcase a variety of gameplay features taking advantage of the Wii U’s GamePad controller creating a more realistic experience with actions such as utilizing gadgets, traversing the environment, and many more implementations that have yet to be announced.
