PS4 games to require Remote Play with PlayStation Vita, GameStop reveals interesting information regarding Grand Theft Auto V, and Naughty Dog comments on DLC for The Last of Us, THIS IS NICK’S GAMING VIEW! Hello everyone and welcome to Nick’s Gaming View, you are here with your host, Nick McCandless. With the PlayStation Vita experiencing a far from successful lifespan thus far, Sony has much to achieve to encourage consumers to invest within the portable platform. While Sony spoke briefly on Remote Play support with the PlayStation 4 back during the PlayStation 4 unveiling, Sony has confirmed that every title to hit PlayStation 4 will require Remote Play support with only games requiring the use of the new PlayStation Eye camera being exempt. It’s certainly exciting to hear such news from Sony themselves and I believe if executed and marketed correctly, the Vita could earn its way up the sales charts and also provide PlayStation 4 with a valuable advantage over its competitor, the Xbox One. Releasing on the current generation of video game consoles, Grand Theft Auto V has uncovered interesting information thanks to a tweet from the official GameStop UK account. Revealing Grand Theft Auto V will create furious storms, rough ocean waves and rain forming puddles in mud, my interest in Grand Theft Auto V has been towering since the day it was announced, but knowing this additional information has me even more curious to see what Rockstar Games has up their sleeves that they have yet to announce. Wrapping up Nick’s Gaming View, Eric Monacelli, Community Strategist for Naughty Dog, has spoken out on the DLC announced for The Last of Us confirming, “it’s not cut content. It’s new content we are working on post launch.” While I wouldn’t expect otherwise from the amazing team over at Naughty Dog, it’s comforting to hear such confirmation letting us know that the single-player experience will not be cut to save room for additional revenue through DLC. Well that concludes today’s episode of Nick’s Gaming View but be sure to follow me on Twitter @NickMcCandless and check back daily for Nick’s Gaming View for your daily access pass to all things gaming.

PlayStation 4 Specs, DUALSHOCK 4, Graphical Benchmark Games - Nick's Gaming View Episode #135 official
PlayStation 4 Specs, DUALSHOCK 4, Graphical Benchmark Games What hardware will power the PlayStation 4 and when can we expect to see it on store shelves? What has Sony accomplished with the new Dualshock 4? And what has Sony revealed in regards to the software lineup for Sony’s next-generation console? THIS IS NICK’S GAMING VIEW! Hello everyone and welcome to Nick’s Gaming View, you are here with your host, Nick McCandless. If I were to talk about anything outside of the PlayStation 4 today, you would be in for one of my longest shows and to be honest, the PlayStation 4 news would just overshadow anything else anyways so let’s get into it. Hitting store shelves this holiday season, Sony’s PlayStation 4 will run off an 8-core 64-bit x86 “Jaguar” CPU developed by AMD and a Radeon GPU capable of handling 1.84 TFLOPS. To go along with the impressive CPU and GPU, 8 GBs of unified GDDR 5 RAM will join the PlayStation 4 along with Wireless N, USB 3.0 ports, Bluetooth 2.1, and optical, HDMI, and surprisingly standard AV hook-ups. Not a surprise, the PlayStation 4 will still utilize the Blu-ray technology thanks to the expandability of the format and the console was confirmed to feature internal storage, but no details were given regarding size. Assuming Sony sticks with standard hard drives, my bets are on a one terabyte unit, but if Sony really looks to step it up with Solid State technology, I’m going to guess 512 GBs in Sony’s higher end model. Moving on from the announced specs of the PlayStation 4, Sony has announced the all-new DUALSHOCK 4 controller featuring a slight redesign holding a vast variety of new features. For the first time in PlayStation’s history, the DUALSHOCK 4 will feature a “Share” button allowing gamers to easily broadcast their gameplay in real-time through streaming providers such as Ustream, who Sony has officially partnered with. Improving upon the six-axis functionality of the DUALSHOCK 3, the new controller will feature a new highly sensitive sensor to improve upon motion-based gaming. While this is cool, how many PS3 gamers regularly enjoyed using this feature on the PS3? To go along with the new sensor, the DUALSHOCK 4 features a light bar with LED lighting allowing the controller to illuminate in various colors to “match the color of the character in a game as a simple way to identify players”. Such feature will send information to the player such as letting them know when their player is taking damage. To go along with the light bar, the DUALSHOCK 4 has been designed alongside a dual camera, which can sense the depth of the environment and track the 3d location of the controller thanks to the light bar. The camera incorporates four microphones for sound detection and source origination and will work with the already existing PlayStation Move. Lastly, the PlayStation 4 is taking a page from the Vita with its own touchpad located on the front of the controller as a new input method offering more ways for gamers to interact with their games along with a built-in speaker and headset jack for high-fidelity sound effects. Thankfully Sony has learned from Microsoft and will also be including a headset with every PlayStation 4 ensuring online gaming is stronger than ever on what Sony claims to be the “fastest gaming network in the world”. Wrapping up Nick’s Gaming View, if the information I have provided you doesn’t excite you, I’m not sure what you’re expecting, but as all gamers know, no console is worth the purchase without a solid software lineup. Thanks to Sony’s recent purchase of Gaikai, Sony is claiming that they are aiming to make not only every single PlayStation 4 release playable on the PlayStation Vita, but make all PlayStation releases playable on the PlayStation 4 via remote play thanks to cloud-based technologies. Huge claims and honestly I’ll believe it when I see it considering Sony promised similar capability between the PS3 and PSP and we all know how that went. Moving along to the announced PlayStation 4 releases, Guerilla Games showed off Killzone: Shadow Fall literally causing my mouth to drop with its live gameplay, inFAMOUS Second Son, Driveclub from the team behind the MotorStorm franchise, Knack, Diablo III (also releasing on PS3), Deep Down from Capcom, Watch Dogs, and finally Bungie’s Destiny. While we all knew Destiny would be coming to the PlayStation 4, Sony really shocked the world by announcing the title developed by the same team behind the franchise that made the Xbox come to life, Halo, will feature exclusive in-game content on both the PlayStation 3 and PlayStation 4 versions. Considering Activision is publishing the title, I would love to know the check or deal Sony cut to pull this megaton announcement off. Well that concludes today’s news-rich episode of Nick’s Gaming View but be sure to follow me on Twitter @NickMcCandless and check back daily for Nick’s Gaming View for your daily access pass to all things gaming.
Epic Games States PlayStation 4/Xbox 720 Development Costs Will Double - Nick's Gaming View Episode #103 official
Epic Games expects costs to double for next-generation video game development, PlayStation Plus becomes even better offer with incredible Vita support, and Sleeping Dogs to feature Deus Ex, Just Cause 2, and Hitman, THIS IS NICK’S GAMING VIEW!Hello everyone and welcome to Nick’s Gaming View, you are here with your host, Nick McCandless. Tim Sweeney, Chief Technology Officer at Epic Games, recently turned heads by stating his expectation that next-generation video game development costs will double the costs involved at the start of the current console generation. While these costs are sure to die down with maturity of the tools and engines are developed, concerns in regards to the price of games for the next PlayStation and Xbox have been strengthened.Competing against the high prices involved within the video game industry, Sony has announced the official details on Vita’s implementation of PlayStation Plus. Remaining at the $49.99 annual subscription, beginning November 20th, subscribers of PlayStation Plus who own a PlayStation Vita will receive the same features provided to the PlayStation 3 including online cloud storage, automatic updates, and trophy synching and access to the highly valuable Instant Games Collection. Containing Uncharted: Golden Abyss, Jet Set Radio HD, WipEout 2048, Gravity Rush, Tales From Space: Mutant Blobs Attack!, and the PSP hit, Final Fantasy Tactics: The War of the Lions, the price of this initial content offering more than doubles the annual subscription cost. It’s crazy how just when you thought PlayStation Plus had reached its peak, it finds yet another way to enrich the value of the service.Wrapping up Nick’s Gaming View, Square Enix has announced their Square Enix Character Pack for Sleeping Dogs allowing the protagonist, Wei Shen, to become a silent assassin. Featuring Square Enix’s renowned characters, the DLC pack will provide characters, suits, and armors from Deus Ex: Human Revolution, Hitman Absolution, and Just Cause 2. With 2012’s blockbusters on store shelves, Sleeping Dogs has seemed to dissolve into the market, but for those who are fans of Sleeping Dogs, the pack can be picked up on Xbox Live, PlayStation Network, and Steam for the low price of $1.99.Well that concludes today’s episode of Nick’s Gaming View but be sure to follow me on Twitter @NickMcCandless and check back daily for Nick’s Gaming View for your daily access pass to all things gaming.E-mail: firstname.lastname@example.orgTwitter: https://twitter.com/NickMcCandlessGoogle+: https://plus.google.com/101731558093991354166Facebook: http://www.facebook.com/OfficialNickMcCandless

I thought 2012 would be a slow dull year for games and I would have trouble finding ten games to put on this list, but turns out 2012 was a superb year for games. I had trouble lowering it down to ten, but this mix of triple A hits and indie titles ended up being my top ten favorite games of 2012.

Honestly, this year was something different. We progressed in ways we hadn't thought we could before, and in other ways took a few steps back. As each big game got pushed back to Spring 2013, we quickly saw our massive list for 2012 evaporate, and things cooled down, creating the calm before the storm that is 2013. Regardless, there were still some games that came out this year that are absolutely worth note, some more...credible than others.
