Mt. Tamalpais, sentinel peak of the San Francisco Bay Area, is considered sacred by many... native and non-native alike. In 1950, the military bulldozed the highest peak of the mountain to build an Air Force Station tasked with directing jet interceptors and short range Nike nuclear missiles against the potential threat of Russian nuclear bombers. By 1980 the base was obsolete and summarily closed. The military literally walked away from dozens of structures, leaving behind a huge toxic mess on the mountain. Through the use of historical footage, 3D reconstruction, interviews and breathtaking timelapse cinematography, this 20-minute film, narrated and co-written by Peter Coyote, explores the history of Tam's West Peak and how local citizens have been fighting to restore their mountain to a natural state. www.invisiblepeak.com © 2014 Gary Yost

Since 2004, businessman and real-life Santa Claus Michael Fux has provided holiday gifts for over 300 underprivileged patients and families of Miami Children's Hospital at his annual holiday celebration. Social workers at the hospital identify the neediest children and come November, they get to select their gifts. Oh, and they can choose whatever they want. This year's event brought out perennial volunteers like former NBA star Alonzo Mourning, 2013 Indianapolis 500 winner Tony Kanaan and featured a surprise performance by Danielle Bradbery, winner of "The Voice" in 2013. I've filmed this event several times for Mr. Fux but this year the idea was to create a short film that will take viewers behind the scenes and illustrate the effort that goes into this type of event. Fux's hopes are to induce additional sponsors get involved and grow the event from 300+ children to several thousand. Enjoy... Video produced by Dan Perez Films www.SouthFloridaFilmmaker.com

A blinded veteran entered the true realm of spirituality – the land of Mystics... and share his story http://guilt-project.org/forgiveness.html as a part of the Guilt and Forgiveness project... "In 1967, Jerry Stadtmiller left the University and joined the USMC -- he volunteered. After Boot Camp and AIT, he went to Vietnam and joined "L" Co 3/4. He was an 0311---a Grunt. After tasting the full horror of killing and the ugliness of War in a few short weeks, on June 15th 1968, in the hills overlooking Khe Sahn, his position was overrun and he was shot point blank twice with an AK47 through the right side of his face. These wounds left him 95 % blind, with a slight pre-frontal brain injury, 2/3rds of his teeth missing, 1/3 rd of his tongue gone and he had no sense of smell. It is a miracle that Jerry survived. His buddies Mac and Bobby did not--they are on the Wall... He was, and I believe remains, the most seriously wounded Marine treated at Balboa. He has persevered through score of operations and surgical procedures. What is the miracle of all this is that he remains open and trusting and available to life and his life honors and bestows great respect on those who now are on our Wall..." (this is an excerpt from the speech delivered by Jack Lyon, a Marine platoon commander in Vietnam who received the Silver Star, Purple Heart, Navy Commendation with Combat V and the Vietnam Cross of Gallantry delivered for Jerry's retirement party.
