Mundelein has a "whistle ban". Instead of the trains honking, the crossing honks for all of the motorists. That's very interesting. In this video, you can hear the crossing honking. All the crossings have a flashing light with an "X" to warn the engineer that he is approaching a crossing. The engineer gave us a very nice sound of the bell.
The Midland Turn heads towards Midland after waiting on a grain train to clear from Auburn. Once in awhile I can catch two trains on this line but for the most part ther is one train each way every weekday.
All right Railfans! Who is ready for some more trains from me? And who wants to see Foreign Power leading? It's all right here in this clip. NS #204 comes through with something that is pretty rare to find in the lead of something on the Piedmont Division, i'm talking about a Santa Fe Warbonnet, and here it is. BNSF(Ex. ATSF) Warbonnet #946, NS #9889 & #9460 has this Intermodal Show Northbound. I was lucky to get this today because I was a little bit under the weather with a sore throat & headache. I will make sure i'm 100% better by next week.
They're back!!! They're responsiable with Building America, and two of over #1300 units, I'm talking the UP SD70Ms. UP Units #4797(Flag) & #4010 have this #212 Intermodal Show. It has been a while since we've seen Foreign Power do #212. Junior is back dispatching with us, sorry if anyone wanted Rebecca to take over if she wasn't doing 3rd Shift. There was a BNSF GEVO not too far from this spot, but he was either on CSX at Riverbend on this Line at Allen, it was BNSF #7595 and it is a Swoosh one. wish that took over instead of an SD70M, Not good! A good way to start a new season of railfanning. After this, after over an hour of wiating for #213 & #119, I was sent packing for home, #119 had NS #9782 in the lead according to Terry Dilenger getting a TA from Louis, no word on #213. But it was all quiet. Hopefully someday I can get a better scanner with a talk button on it, so I can give a shout out to the crew onboard.
North of the Sanford Auto Train terminal, We watch Amtrak P053 the Auto Train coast in with 22 Autoracks and 14 superliners almost 3 hours late. This is Amtrak's Longest as well as Heaviest train on the system. Instead of the usual GE Genesis P40 800 series engines we get 1 & 7 a pair P42 Locomotives. We waited for one hour for the train to come. We encountered rain then sun then more rain then hot sun before the train came by.
I caught the Harbor Turn running light power through Mahan on it's way to Beburg. With Matt Adams on the horn, he played a little I caught the Harbor Turn running light power through Mahan on it's way to Beburg. With Matt Adams on the horn, he played a little diddy.
