Steve Katz is a New York-based singer, songwriter, and guitarist. Originally from Belgium, Katz has traveled and found inspiration through his time in the UK, Israel, India, and Nepal.
Katz has played guitar since the age of 14 and knew from the very first chord he learned that he wanted pursue music. He loves experimenting and creating new melodies and has honed a unique, creative way of playing.
As a kid, Katz listened to bands like Pink Floyd, Santana, the Eagles, and Supertramp, who his mother would listen to on a regular basis. (An influence he is grateful for!) As a young adult, he spent hours in music stores listening to and discovering music from all over the world. Eventually, Progressive Rock (Genesis, King Crimson, Camel, and Jethro Tull), Jazz, and Cat Stevens were his preference.
Katz’s beautiful, sometimes eerie melodies compliment his soulful voice. With both up and low tempo songs, with some Irish and Spanish influence, he has been likened to John Mayer, Jose Gonzalez, Cat Stevens, Damien Rice, David Grey, and James Blunt. Katz performs regularly in NYC where he has played everywhere from the Bitter End to the Living Room.
