Paswan counters Murli Manohar Joshi’s statement on Modi
In yet another example of David beating Goliath, Aam Aadmi Party supremo Arvind Kejriwal has secured the highest coverage in TV news during prime time, followed by BJP's Narendra Modi and Congress' Rahul Gandhi in early days of elections, according to a study.@NSTV
These assembly polls may see a contest between two Team Anna members, if former IPS officer Kiran Bedi accepts BJP's offer to take on Arvind Kejriwal in New Delhi constituency. Top sources in the party have confirmed that Bedi, a known BJP supporter, has been asked to stand against Kejriwal. When contacted, Bedi neither confirmed nor denied the news. "I am not interested in electoral politics and I have maintained this all throughout," said Bedi. However, it is being understood that Bedi is not keen on accepting the offer as it will not do much good to her social stature. "Defeating Dikshit won't be easy. If she does win, she might end up becoming a regular MLA, which doesn't suit her stature. The party should offer her the chief ministerial post on winning," said a BJP leader.@nstv

Rahul Gandhi today accused BJP of copying Congress' election manifesto and asked the opposition party to elaborate on its promises to curb corruption. "Congress started work on poll manifesto six months back and we went to poor, farmers and labourers before drafting our manifesto to know about their problems and issues and incorporated their suggestions in the manifesto, but what BJP did is they removed Congress symbol and pasted their symbol on our manifesto," Gandhi said.
Senior Congress leader Kapil Sibaltoday moved the Election Commission over the issue of the marital status of Narendra Modi by seeking action by the poll body against the BJP leader for "hiding" facts in election affidavits filed by him in the past. "I have filed a petition with the Election Commission today seeking action against Modi under various provisions of the IPC for hiding facts in his election affidavits regarding his marriage," Sibal said after meeting the poll panel. He said that between 2002 and 2012, Modi had filed election affidavits while contesting Gujarat assembly elections where he had not mentioned his marital status. "He has not informed the country about this fact. Now, while contesting from Vadorara Lok Sabha seat, he has mentioned that he is married," Sibal said. He said the EC has assured to examine his plea. Earlier on Friday, Congress Vice-President Rahul Gandhi raked up the issue of Modi's marriage to hit out at BJP, saying while the party made claims of ensuring safety of women, it took several elections for its Prime Ministerial candidate to mention the name of his wife in the poll affidavit. "Don't know how many elections he has contested till now, but he has revealed for the first time that he is married. In Delhi, he talks about honour of women but his own wife's name doesn't reach the affidavit," Rahul said. Modi has for the first time declared himself as a married man by revealing his wife's name as Jashodaben in an affidavit filed before the Election Commission along with his nomination papers for Vadodara Lok Sabha seat. @NSTV
