The Caretaker, an infirm elderly man, lies in his hospital bed whilst an evil robot wreaks mayhem outside in the city. His only companion is a superhero doll that he has owned since he was a boy. To the old manâÄôs surprise a collection of miniature theatre stages appear on the floor on which we see moments from his past, and that reveal a disturbing link between the Caretaker, his superhero doll and the evil robot outside. (This is a UK Film Council Digital Short film made through Film London).

The material was originally photographed for the PORCUPINE TREE video 'Time Flies' which featured on 'The Incident' album and as part of the live show. Director / editor Lasse Hoile greatly accelerated most of the shots to keep tempo with the song, but the original motion control moves had a grace and an atmosphere that I felt deserved a separate showcase. With kind permission from Steven Wilson, in his ambient incarnation BASS COMMUNION, music from the album 'Litany' was used in the creation of a 2k digital film, built by the wonderful Alex Hibbitt at Arts Alliance Media, and which premiered at the Bradford Film Festival's 'Widescreen Weekend' event in 2010.www.swhq.co.ukwww.artsalliancemedia.comwww.grantwakefield.com

This is a little animation I've been tinkering around with for a while. The original incarnation was designed for the Piranhabar reception desk which spanned 3 HDTV's so it was wiiiiiiiide. This version is a little easier to swallow on a single screen.It follows a little robotic character who's just trying to grab some shut-eye but the factory around him springs to life unexpectedly. A serious design flaw in the factories ergonomics prevents the poor guy from reaching the off switch and the rest is history!I pretty much did everything you see and hear here. Visuals were done in XSI, comping and grading in After Effects and sound was done in Premiere. In a world where only the feats of brave knights, strong warriors or intrepid amazons are recognized a group of henchmen have trouble standing out amongst so much competition. They come to realize that their only option is to become the most evil of evil. But unlike other heroes our protagonists have to start from the bottom and make their way up by carrying out the most miserable and pathetic missions that their Evil Master entrusts them. And all with a sole objective: to become a part of the history of Almorria.
