Ford Motor Co. (F) says it intends to set up a joint venture with Russian automotive group Sollers OJSC for the production and distribution of Ford vehicles in Russia. The 50:50 joint venture will be called Ford Sollers and will include Ford and Sollers local production facilities in the St. Petersburg region and in the Republic of Tatarstan. The companies said Ford Sollers will manufacture a range of passenger cars and light commercial vehicles and that it is scheduled to start operations by the end of 2011. The companies did not give any estimates on likely sales or earnings from the joint venture.

Ford Motor Co. (F) is down 1.26% to $14.86, despite CEO Alan Mulally's comment that its venture with Russian automaker OAO Sollers will accelerate the availability of Ford vehicles in the local market. The comment comes during an interview with Bloomberg news at CeBIT technology show in Hanover, Germany. Ford and Sollers have agreed to set up the 50-50 venture on Feb. 18, to assemble and distribute vehicles in Russia.

Experts believe the fossil shares a common origin with birds.Archaeologists in China have discovered the complete fossil of a 160-million-year-old dinosaur, the Haplocheirus Sollers.Experts believe this discovery will help confirm the evolutionary relationship between dinosaurs and birds.The two-meter tall carnivorous dinosaur was discovered in China's Xinjiang region and is the only one of its kind found so far.Researchers are surprised by the dinosaur’s physical similarity to birds, particularly its appendages. This archaeological find strengthens the link between the pair, which Chinese Academy of Science's Professor Xu Xing says is raising hopes of further discoveries.[Xu Xing, Professor, Chinese Academy of Sciences]:"We know that birds are derived from dinosaurs. But most of our original fossils are from the Cretaceous period. But now we hope to find more Jurassic fossils. This way we can find more direct evidence to prove that birds have evolved from dinosaurs." The search continues for more fossils to support their theory, and researchers are focused on the dinosaur's appearance, habits and evolutionary development.
