Blur Damon Albarn: esiste un brano inedito della band
http://www.musica10.it/blur-damon-albarn-esiste-un-brano-inedito-della-band-20932.html l frontman dei Blur nonché leader dei Gorillaz Damon Albarn ha recentemente reso ufficiale la notizia dell'esistenza di un brano inedito firmato proprio dai Blur. Non si tratterebbe propriamente di una canzone, bensì di un cosiddetto "spoken words", ovvero una poesia accompagnata dalla musica della band. Sarebbe stata registrata con la collaborazione del poeta Michael Horovitz all'inizio del 2011 ma, ovviamente, non ancora resa pubblica. Secondo quanto detto proprio da Damon Albarn, la canzone sarebbe stata registrata in sala per sostenere una importante iniziativa. Ogni anno nel quartiere di Notting Hill, a Londra, si svolge il tradizionale Carnevale. Quest'anno, come sapete, l'Inghilterra è stata teatro di numerosissimi scontri in strada, tanto che le autorità volevano privare la città di questa tradizione. Questo sarebbe stato il motivo che ha spinto Damon Albar e soci a registrare questo spoken word con Michael Horovitz. Il Carnevale di Notting Hill si è poi svolto regolarmente e Damon Albar si è detto riluttante alla pubblicazione del brano."Se avessero cancellato il Carnevale -- ha detto Damon Albarn durante una intervista al New Musical Express -probabilmente in un modo o nell'altro l'avremmo pubblicata. Essendosi però poi sistemato tutto, non credo abbia senso farla uscire. E anche se l'avessi pubblicata durante la discussione sulla fattibilità o meno del carnevale, avrebbe avuto senso sì e no per una dozzina di giorni, giusto il tempo di arrivare all'epilogo". Insomma, probabilmente non ascolteremo mai questa canzone registrata in studio dai Blur con Michael Horovitz a sostegno del Carnevale di Notting Hill. A questo punto Damon Albarn poteva non ufficializzarne l'esistenza. Avrebbe evitato di innescare una fastidiosa curiosità.

Damage Manual - S/T
Documents the first recordings of The Damage Manual with the original members: Martin Atkins, Chris Connelly, Geordie Walker and Jah Wobble.
The Damage Manual documentary is a record of the London sessions of the original line-up of the band. The camera is in the studio as Wobble lays down a bass track, Geordie tunes up and overdubs, Chris Connelly sits as the camera looks over his shoulder as he writes lyrics to Leave the Ground. Lee Fraser of Sheep On Drugs hypnotizes himself with some keyboard overdubs. The bands publicist flies over from the USA and sits chatting with the band as Geordie Walker (of Killing Joke) is shot for a magazine. The viewer is there in the studio, punctuated by the beep of the door bell - attached to a security camera, you can hear Martin Atkins directing everyone to go outside and press the buzzer, creating a great sequence of blurred cheap camera shots that are eventually edited together as the "Laugh Track" video. The VU meters pulse to the music, the 2" tape machine rolls, the speakers pump. The band, all together in one place, jam out a few songs as the camera looks over shoulders, sits behind the drum kit and witnesses a very special, all too brief time in this stellar bands short history.

BALCONYTV.COM 25/04/2007PRESENTED BY PAULINE FREEMANThe Kinetiks will release their debut four-track EP, "High Horse Olympics" in April '07 on new Dublin based label Rapture Records. The release will be available in stores nationwide and to download from mobile service providers and online music stores such as iTunes, Napster, Downloadmusic.ie, Outersounds.ie, eMusic and HMV Digital etc. A nationwide tour is planned to surround the release.In the latter stages of 2005, after several months of murdering covers of tunes by The Beatles and The Who, Gary Harding and Sean Brennan decided it was time they wanted to make their very own proper music for real and also make an audience watch and listen. They heard on the grapevine of an available aspiring drummer in the locality and decided to draft him in for a jam or two. That drummer was Jon McIntosh who suggested bringing in his good friend and already accomplished guitarist, Jim McGuire on bass to form "The Kinetiks".December '05 brought The Kinetiks first gig in the Voodoo Lounge in Dublin City. The band gigged intensively over the following twelve months winning over generally impartial crowds, gaining fans and perfecting an onstage confidence and energy that takes many acts substantially longer to obtain. Gig highlights for the band have included a number of high profile support slots including The Young Knives and Black Wire.Influences on all four members of the band range from The Kinks, The Hollies, The Beach Boys, The Ramones and Elvis to Arcade Fire, The Strokes, The Smiths, Franz Ferdinand, The Pixies and The Libertines. However, many have cited similarities with Blur, XTC and Gang Of Four.The group went into the studio in late '06 with producer and former Grouse Lodge staffer, Ciaran Bradshaw, having been recommended by chief live sound engineer for 'Muse' Marc Carolan. Four tracks were recorded in Ashtown Studios during this session.
