X-MEN DESTINY Details Revealed! 3DS Region Locked! And How Much Are Those Games?! - Destructoid
Today is a very special day. Why, you might ask? Well, because Tara had a post devoted to her on 4chan last night! Whether this is the pinnacle or the nadir of our lives, we're excited - so excited that we've brought you another episode full of great news. Like all legitimate news programs we start out with a retraction of some of Monday's lies, then move on to indie game Amensia: Dark Descent making some money, take a stop in the jail to talk about Wesley Snipes' new game called JULIUS STYLES, and of course spend time talking about the 3DS. The latest news is that the 3DS will be region locked, dissuading potential importers, and that the games will cost 49.99. Ouch.

HEAVY TRASH
PRESENTED BY LAYLA ANNA-LEEOn stage and in the studio, Jon Spencer, has destroyed and rebuilt American roots music with such ferocity and wild abandon it is hard to believe that there is anything left. The trail of musical destruction in the wake of his groovy hate-fuck combo Pussy Galore still smolders with the stench of avant punk trash and nasty garage ooze and grind, while his towering work with The Jon Spencer Blues Explosion remains an indelible totem to his enormous mojo spirit and red-hot power of deliverance. He is Daddy Boss Hog! He is the Blues Exploder and Microphone Destroyer! A Gibson Brother! The man who shared a Chicken Dog with Rufus Thomas, got Soul with R.L. Burnside, and enjoyed a greasy Lap Dance with Andre Williams! He is The Man Who Loved too Much!!! Now, with his pal Matt Verta-Ray, he has become the Heavy Trash, and is inviting you to a Midnight Soul Serenade.Matt Verta-Ray grew up in the loving arms of left wing parents who would take him to folk and blues shows long before he sprouted sideburns. (His mother passed away in the '90s, still angry that Dylan had gone electric, despite the fact - Matt is quick to point out - that she owned tons of Sun rockabilly 78s, which he very gratefully still has.) In the late '70s, young Matt found himself one of only twelve people who went to see Bo Diddley at a Canadian fairground. After the show, Bo came out and preached to Matt for an hour about the dark secrets of rock'n'roll. And the rest, as they say, is history - from sitting on the edge of the stage with Bo, to thumping bass for Madder Rose, and then onto his hard-wired decontructionist rootsabilly band Speedball Baby, where he developed his slashing-dagger guitar style - to forming Heavy Trash with his friend Jon Spencer. Matt is also the mad scientist behind the jungle of tube amps and old-school echo machines that form the mutated nucleus of his analog cave, world-class recording studio NY Hed, where musicians come from all over the galaxy to learn the dark secrets of the Midnight Soul Serenade. http://www.heavytrash.net/http://www.myspace.com/heavytrashTune in again tomorrow!

GRITtv: The F Word: Baby Steps Toward Equality
It's over a year into an Obama administration, and already that word “compromise” has been heard too much. Yet when the news hit Monday night that the administration had agreed to a compromise that would see Congress voting on overturning Don't Ask Don't Tell, hopes rose again. VEGAS BROWN
Auckland// Wednesday, May 19, 2010 PRESENTED BY SIR-VERE BROUGHT TO YOU IN ASSOCIATION WITH notourfuture.co.nzFew entertainers in New Zealand can claim to have been playing in bars since the age of thirteen. Aside from the obvious legal ramifications, this is because few entertainers feel the way about music that Vegas Brown does. It is not just his bread and butter, but his heart, his soul, and his life-blood. This passion is exemplified, not only in every one of his live performances, but in his diverse and eclectic musical background. Whether it be behind the drums, behind the microphone or simply behind the next person in line, Vegas Brown exudes a genuine and sincere love for his craft. In 1995 Vegas took up the microphone with Mama Said, the popular funk-rock outfit whos driving rhythms and signature vocals saw them take out both first place and Best Vocalist at the 2000 New Zealand Battle of the Bands. This title, and the growing reports of the bands energetic and talented frontman, inevitably led to bigger festivals and shows, and so, in an effort to reconnect with his love of smaller, more low-key gigs, Vegas formed Warrant of Fatness, a collaborative covers band, made up of some of the finest musicians in the Waikato. Primarily conceived as an act designed to warm up a crowd, Warrant of Fatness quickly achieved infamy through their ability to overshadow the main act with their sociable banter and story-telling, as well as their huge sound and dynamic versions of popular songs. Warrant of Fatness rapidly rose through the ranks of the cover scene, and were repeatedly funded for nationwide tours, where they left crowds eager to hear more of the unique blend of music and (often inadvertent) stand-up comedy. In 2003, Vegas completed the line-up of Hamilton rockers, 48May, where he spent three years behind the drums; releasing two albums, and collecting numerous accolades such as Best Drummer, Best Song, Best NZ Band, Favourite Newcomers and a highly coveted Gold Album. His tenure in 48May also saw him play alongside peers such as Alien Ant Farm, Simple Plan, Panic! At The Disco and Grinspoon, and perform at sold out festivals such as Big Day Out, the Queenstown Winterfest, and X Air. However, as his reputation behind the drums increased, so too did his desire to take up his familiar role behind the microphone once again. And so, in 2006 Vegas returned to the front of the stage, bringing with him the flair for showmanship, and the passion for music that had made him such a recognizable figure in the New Zealand music industry. This passion was realised not only in the form of his live shows, but also in the heartfelt and honest songs he began writing. Rather than deal in the vague commonalities of girls, love and life that are all too familiar on todays airwaves, Vegas instead, found a cathartic sense of release writing about his own personal issues, both positive and negative the moments in time that affected him, and ultimately, defined him. Interspersed throughout his show, these original and emotive songs counterbalance the more recognizable covers that never fail to get people up and dancing.Without the backing of a full band, it is a rarity to find an act that can capture a crowd so completely, and yet, armed with a single guitar and an inherent sense of rhythm and flow, Vegas doesnt play through sets as much as glide through them. Audiences are transformed from peripheral listeners to active participants, and music changes from a noun to a verb, in a shared social experience that can only be achieved by someone who truly loves what they do.http://www.vegasbrown.comTune in again tomorrow!!!

GRITtv: Ariel Dougherty: Stand on My Shoulders
Have you read the Newsweek article, “Are We There Yet?”? It is a milestone. It explores the 40th anniversary of 46 women at Newsweek who filed a sex discrimination case with the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission. What the article uncovers is that room still exists for improvement despite the progress from the 1970 action. Acknowledging that women's rights are far from won is a major admission within mainstream media. It usually bends over backwards to declare feminism dead. The most startling fact is that young women at Newsweek had no inkling of the 1970 discrimination case. Feminists—old and young alike—have to ask, how did this happen? How is our collective memory lost so readily? If no women's history is taught in high schools or colleges, how can we, in a feminist consciousness raising way, fill this void? Maria Frazer Dougherty, my paternal grandmother, died in 1959. I was eleven. Not until the 80s did I learn about her Votes for Women work or her activism in the “wets” campaign to repeal prohibition. Today, women who waged the discrimination case at Newsweek are still alive. Much of the activism that surged then has participants, sages available for live history lessons. Five documentary films about the Second Wave struggle for completion funds. But here, too, discrimination is great. “Theme not universal” the filmmakers are told repeatedly by funders. Young women are deprived of seeing this vital era on celluloid. In the 70s, we resurrected the stories of women who went before us. We built institutions in order to share those stories---The Feminist Press, Triple Jeopardy, Olivia Records. While we did not always succeed, when we did, it was joyous. Yes, much work still needs to be done. Here, stand on my shoulders. But, please, avoid my toes. Ariel Dougherty is the Director of the Media Equity Collaborative. GRITtv with Laura Flanders. Ideas for Unusual Jewelry - Women's Style
Ideas for Unusual Jewelry - as part of the Women's Style series by GeoBeats. Hi, I am Tina Tang. I am a New York City jewelry designer. I want to show you my favorite pieces, which I also consider my most unusual pieces. They are the kind of pieces that, when you have on, people will probably stop you or ask you more about it. And, as a woman, is not that what you always want, for people to notice your jewelry? The first piece, which is one of my favorites, is this one. It is the Romeo/Juliette Double Dagger Necklace. You probably know the story behind Romeo and Juliette, but Romeo stabbed himself when he thought that Juliette had committed suicide. So this kind of exemplifies their love. I love just the shape of it. It is the kind of thing, when you have it on, people will look closer to see what you have on. The second piece I did, that is one of my favorites, is the relief necklace. What is really great about this one is that, for the person wearing it, when you flip it up, like that, you can see that it says: peace, love, recycle. Obviously, this is not just for the environmentalist. I am hoping that all of us want to have peace, love and recycle as part of our mottos in life. But what is nice about this, is that it is a really pretty piece on. It is definitely a statement piece when you have got it on. And the third piece that I absolutely love is the piece that I have on. I pretty much wear this one all of the time. It is the Minotaur horn. I do not know if you know the story; it is a Greek myth with Decius and Ariadne. Decius was stuck in the labyrinth. He had to get out; otherwise the Minotaur was going to kill him. And Ariadne had giving him a ball of red yarn or string to wind his way through the maze so that he could exit the labyrinth, and this is what it signifies. It is the horn of the Minotaur with the string around it. And the last piece, that I think is a lot of fun to wear and just I guess, look like you have absolute style, like a New Yorker, is this Diana, the Huntress, piece. It is, a bow and arrow; and Diana, I would consider, one of the early feminists of our time. Way back in either the Greek or Roman history, please excuse me if I sound like a dummy, but this is one of the pieces that I just think is a lot of fun when you are wearing too, because it is an unexpected piece. And that is what style is all about, is not it?

Louis Walsh has a swipe at Simon
Louis Walsh has claimed that Simon Cowell's fiancée Mezghan Hussainy is 'much too nice' for the music mogul. The X Factor judge joked that Mezghan could do better saying: "I know his girlfriend, she really is gorgeous. She's much too nice for him, much too nice," Despite giving his opinion on their compatibility, he remained tight-lipped about the couples' nuptials, he told reporters: "Simon getting married? Yeah, I heard about this. He didn't tell me at Christmas that he was going to get married". Louis filled in for Simon during the recorded auditions of Britain's Got Talent this year and enjoyed his short time on the show. The music manager insists that he and Simon are very good friends despite all of the banter and remarks made between the two during the X Factor series.

Monk tackles Fukushima nuke "hotspots"
Here at a temple in the Fukushima winter, Zen monk Koyu Abe is praying for the souls of the dead. Thousands died in last year's earthquake and tsunami. But left behind, here just 30 miles from the Fukushima Daiichi nuclear plant, is one invisible demon prayers can't beat. (SOUNDBITE) (Japanese) HEAD MONK AT JOENJI ZEN BUDDHIST TEMPLE, KOYU ABE, SAYING: "The damage here in Fukushima is different from the destruction caused by the tsunami. You can't see it. Nothing looks as if it's changed, but really radiation is floating through the area. So it's hard for those hit by the tsunami; but in a slightly different sense, it's hard to live here too." Robes off and mask on, Abe is hunting for hotspots on the streets of Fukushima with a team of volunteers. This is a city the government considers safe, outside its 12-mile evacuation zone. But Geiger counters here show radiation levels higher than some tests close to the nuclear plant. Two hours near this would be equivalent to a full body X-Ray. One volunteer is Masataka Aoki. He's spent four decades at Hitachi designing nuclear plants. (SOUNDBITE) (Japanese) MASATAKA AOKI, 65-YEAR-OLD NUCLEAR PLANT ENGINEER FOR HITACHI AND VOLUNTEER IN THE CLEAN-UP PROJECT, SAYING: "The thing I'd come to believe was good, useful to society, turned out to be useless and cause everyone trouble. So for me, I feel a deep sense of remorse." But with little help from the authorities, Abe's temple is now taking on a nuclear burden. Radioactive soil Abe says nobody else will take is packed into these containers and stored in the temple grounds. (SOUNDBITE) (Japanese) HEAD MONK AT JOENJI ZEN BUDDHIST TEMPLE, KOYU ABE, SAYING: "Our mission at the temple is to make the happy things even happier and, as much as we can, shoulder those that cause sorrow -- as far as possible allowing people to escape their grief. That's the essence of our work. So to that end no effort is too much, be it our time or anything else." Here the snow may still be falling. But after this nuclear winter, Abe hopes for a radiation-free spring. Ruairidh Villar, in Fukushima for Reuters.

Love Police - The Corporatization of Open Space
In the same week that the Italian lady was arrested for filming open space buildings as an art project here in central London (search under my recent favourites for her video "I am not a terrorist") and the Police freak out and release this story (http://uk.news.yahoo.com/4/20091215/tuk-suspected-terrorists-caught-filming-dba1618.html) of some silly Algerians filming buildings and then getting deported (must have been REALLY dangerous if they were allowed to leave and plan elsewhere), we bring you a little study into the increasing corporatization of open space in central London. We ask everyone to get out there into "private" open property as much as possible and expose the ridiculousness of it all. My favourite bit of "private" open property is a massive riverside section by the Tower of London, and this video is a tribute to the souls who get programmed to defend the place against degenerates like Harvey and myself =) Just bought a new computer (second hand and powerful) so the Newcastle, St. Albans, and Amsterdam videos will be coming soon. You should have seen my poor old computer attempt to render full HD 1920 X 1080. It was an Epic Fail. Having thought as well a lot about my life in relation to humanity, I want to publically renounce any call to arms. I realise the error of doing this now when we can so obviously win this with love by awakening the people. All the people. Once a soul remembers their power, they will automatically choose the good over the bad. ( I hope!) As Socrates said (because he never wrote anything down): "All evil is the ignorance of the good" or in the thinking of the novel "Conversations with God", thre is either function or dysfunction, and the atrocities committed on this world come from dysfunctional fevered ego souls. Please refer to the film "The Lives of Others" for the power of awakening of someone in a position of authority. There is hope for all, so lets lead by example and show them the power of forgiveness and tough (but not too tough) love. Charlie Veitch - December 2009

Amiga Longplay [057] Shadow Fighter Part 1
This is part one of Shadow Fighter for the Amiga. Hipoonios' favorite fighter on Amiga. He never lost a life (only energy). But on some opponents he loses a little too much. Playing with Lee Chen. His fire kick is very efficient on most opponents. So he used that very often :) This movie has a small sound delay in the middle of the movie. (3 mins). That happened because he recorded a little too long without stopping the recording. Stupid "Insert disk X" requests between the matches. All discs was inserted, but for some reason they show up anyway.

Setting Boundaries = Erasing Limits — Projection
2010-11-19 2nd Journal, Mayan day Earth ♥ TRANSCRIPT: http://www.scribd.com/doc/43941249 Intro: There are many ways to heal, aren’t they? It’s rather amazing, really - the power and potential for healing that’s going on, all around us. Do we see it? How much of it do we really see, and take into our self? One of my issues in this life has been about boundaries. I tended to give the self way too fully, sometimes - maybe often - foolishly. I had such a powerful belief in Love, in unselfish, giving, unconditional Love that I thought it could heal anyone - of anything. Well, the knocks have been harder than hard to show me how wrong that was. It was an error in vision, but one I stubbornly maintained. It called for the 2 x 4 type of healing - and that’s what I got. That’s what it took. Now, of course, I’m quite grateful for that. It was anything but fun, in the midst of it, though. But at least I’m sensitive to it, now - no more 2 x 4’s are needed. I’m alert to the feather, now - the gentle approach. Source always manifests things gently, at first. Okay, so here’s something interesting I just discovered. I’ve been aware of (personal) healing on the issue of boundaries. I’ve been aware, too, of the good feelings that come from setting simple boundaries - of no longer being willing to endure whatever - to accept if for the friend - supposedly out of love. I’ve seen through that way of being, at least on one level - ho ho. Don’t want to be claiming too much, here. Clay feet still in evidence. I’m not levitating, just yet ;) ... More to life
Leave it to me, to take a song that has nothing to do with romance and yet, make a video thats all about it. Oh yeah, sure I have talent *sarcasm* I mean im not much of a feminist, but I could use a bit more girl power in my vids. Oh well, at least I didn't show Mulan that way. It alright, but I kind of wish it was just...better. But, I worked on it long enough and I need to get some sun. So...yeah. I think Youtube messed some of it up, too. Also I hate songs that fade out! -_- They are just annoying. At the end you have to turn it up to know that theres still music going on. Well, I hope you enjoy it anyway. Clips from: Cinderella, The Little Mermaid, Beauty and the Beast, Aladdin, Pocahontas, The Hunchback of Notre Dame, Hercules, Mulan, Tarzan Song "More to Life" by Stacie Orrico. Secret Invasion Fantastic Four #1
shazap.com This issue runs parallel with the first issue of secret invasion and explains what happened when Sue Storm blew up the Baxter Building. It starts off with a prologue that explains how the invisible woman was captured by a skrull posing as her husband. As this is going on the “he loves you” attack we witnessed in secret invasion #1 is being carried out by another skrull. It’s really quite geneouse knowing that it would attract too much attention and come with too much risk to try and kill the fantastic four directly they neutralized the members as well as their technology (possibly their greatest weapon) by transporting the whole damn thing to the n-zone. The real twist comes as Johnny figures out that hhis sister is an imposter and she reveals herself to be Johnny’s old skrully flame, forgive me I couldn’t resist, Lyja. Marvel is doing a really good job of showing that backstory of the invasion as it relates to current events and this looks to be a great mini series. For the next two issues we’ve got Johnny, Ben, the kids trapped in the Baxter building with a Skrull and a grip of N-zone monsters. We’re in store for some excitement.
