is violence breaking out in gallup... and the surrounding areas. our newsroom has been flooded with calls all night from concerned residents. here's what we know right now.... last night, we're told two people were shot near dairy and patton in gallup. both were taken to the hospital with life threatening injuries. and we're told two people are in custody in connection to the shooting. minute thumbnail 06:01 am then, just after 8 last night... there was another shooting in the parking lot of the gallup indian medical center. we're told one person was shot there ... that person did not suffer life threatening injuries. and it's still not clear of this shooting and the one that happened earlier are connected. about an hour after that... police were called out to the shell gas station on the east side of town where there was an attempted robbery. we're told a victim was shot in the face multiple times with a b-b gun. that person's condition is not known this morning. police say this shooting was not connected with the previous shootings. but there was a attempted robbery at the nearby fire rock casino earlier... and police still aren't ruling out that connection. now there's still a lot for police to sort out... and we're expected to be briefed later this morning. in the meantime, we will continue to work the phones to find out any new information.... as soon as we learn more, we'll pass that on to you.

The New York Times announced that it is launching digital subscriptions, which will affect some users of its Web site, NYTimes.com, and its applications for smartphones and tablets. The subscription plan allows for free access to a set amount of content across digital platforms. When the monthly reading limit is reached, users who are not already home delivery subscribers will be asked to become digital subscribers. Digital subscriptions will be available in the United States and globally on March 28. The Times is launching digital subscriptions in the Canadian market beginning today in order to fine-tune the customer experience prior to the global launch. For non-home delivery subscribers, the basic package will start at $15 every four weeks.

Nokia took control of nine of Times Square's famous electronic screens to ensure the crowd were immersed in light and music from every direction.The light show was introduced by international superstar Nicki Minaj, who performed a medley of tracks from her new album, "Pink Friday: Roman Reloaded".Dozens of the world’s leading visual artists worked for more than 5,000 hours, day and night for more than three weeks, to create the hundreds of jaw-dropping effects that were used on the large screens. All of the electronic screens were controlled from a mobile server that was fed by eight miles of cable spread over four square blocks of New York city. Combining real dancers with 200ft high computer generated graphics, a building in the square was turned into a living, breathing entity. The building was made to appear as though it was filling with water and then "melting" in front of the crowd.The event kicked off the launch of the Nokia Lumia 900 in North America, & the ground-breaking visual event was choreographed to an exclusive Nokia Lumia remix of Nicki Minaj’s hit ‘Starships’, performed live by DJ and producer Doorly.
