Allison Crowe "Philosophy"

Joni Mitchell in Canada 1965 part
Joni Anderson , later to be known as Joni MItchell, sings a wicked little wild west song by John Phillips, not very Joni-like but she pulls it off with a charming wink and a smile. It's called "Me and My Uncle." Her uncle grabs the pot of gold at a West Texas cowboy card game, then she leaves him for dead and grabs the gold for herself. From Let's Sing Out in Canada hosted by Oscar Brandt.
A Case of You (Joni Mitchell) - Allison Crowe live
Allison Crowe performs Joni Mitchell's song, "A Case of You""Crowe gets to the heart of the mystical, intoxicating song. 'You're In My Blood Like Holy Wine' has rarely been a line better delivered." ~ Anna Maria Stjärnell, Luna Kafé (Sweden)" Another fine entry in the Joni Covers pantheon for Allison, who first wowed us with her electrifying take on River. She picks another Blue selection and imbues it with her sensitive singing and playing. From her release 'This Little Bird', all of which is as tasty as this track." ~ Bob Muller, JoniMitchell.com (USA)"Ranging from pure and angelic to sultry and confessional, Crowe excels at all levels. The cover of the Joni Mitchell classic, A Case of You, demonstrates this perfectly. The song covers Crowe's full range -- both tonally and emotionally -- from strident confidence in the strength of love down to low groaning of self doubt and despair." ~ Trevor Raggatt, Wears the Trousers (UK)http://music.allisoncrowe.com/track/a-case-of-you
Me and Bobby McGee ~ Allison Crowe live
Canadian musician Allison Crowe performs live in concert "Me and Bobby McGee", the Fred Foster, Kris Kristofferson song recorded famously by Janis Joplin.Images are from Billie Woods, ( http://www.billiewoods.com ), the terrifically talented photographer who regularly tours Europe with Crowe. These pics are from such locations as Frankfurt and Siegen, Germany and Durness, Scotland where Allison Crowe headlined the 'Northern Lights Festival', a benefit for the John Lennon Memorial Garden. As with her other interpretations, Allison Crowe doesn't mimic the sound or style of another artist. Instead, she covers songs in her own voice."Allison Crowe is the best thing to happen to 'Me And Bobby McGee' since Janis Joplin changed Kristoffersons lyrics" says Allan Showalter in the entertainingly erudite "pastiche of a blog" (http://1heckofaguy.com ) 1 Heck of a Guy.http://music.allisoncrowe.com/track/me-and-bobby-mcgee
Imagine Peace John & Yoko Bed-In Gerry Deiter Allison Crowe
More than forty years ago today, John Lennon and Yoko Ono staged a Bed In for Peace at Montreal's Queen Elizabeth Hotel. The couple held the eight-day event - from May 25 to June 1, 1969 - to protest civil unrest and the U.S. involvement in the Vietnam war. Assigned by Life Magazine to document the happening, young photo-journalist Gerry Deiter was the only photographer there the entire 8 days. He captured hundreds of images of the couple singing, composing, visiting with friends and talking to the media. June 1 was the culmination - the recording of Give Peace A Chance. Now these images come together in the book "Give Peace a Chance: John & Yoko's Bed-In for Peace". Photography by Gerry Deiter. Compiled by Joan Athey. Edited by Paul McGrath. Joan Athey has graciously allowed these images to accompany a live performance of "Imagine" by Canadian musician Allison Crowe. Her vocals on 'I Dreamed A Dream' are especially potent and moving. As with her cover of 'Hallelujah', she seems to put every fiber of her being into the song and it's an awe inspiring thing to hear."Photos of Allison Crowe live on stage are by Billie Woods - captured in performance on January 31, 2009 at the Edmonds Center for the Arts, Edmonds, Washington, USA.http://music.allisoncrowe.com/track/i-dreamed-a-dream
