Curiosity: France on Mars
If all goes according to plan, this rover belonging to NASA will reach the Red Planet in August 2012. This impressive, 900 kg rover, equipped with a nuclear battery, is carrying two French instruments: the ChemCam (Chemistry Camera) and a part of the SAM (Sample Analysis at Mars) sample laboratory.

Almost one year ago, the European Space Agency presented the 6 new astronauts that had been selected: Samantha Cristoforetti (Italy), Alexander Gerst (Germany), Andreas Mogensen (Denmark), Luca Parmitano (Italy), Timothy Peake (United Kingdom) and Thomas Pesquet (France).Taking a (very) short break from their intensive training on 5 May 2010, they visited the Cité de l’Espace, the space adventure theme park situated in Toulouse, France.

Tranquility and the Cupola
The STS-130 mission lift-off took place on 8 February 2010, with the payload bay of the space shuttle Endeavour carrying the Tranquility module and the Cupola observation post.
