BMW at the Geneva Motor Show 2009. Show highlights.
Wim Van Bogaert gives an overview of key messages and show highlights. Key highlights that are featured include the BMW Concept 5 Series Gran Turismo, the BMW Z4 Roadster, BMW EfficientDynamics as well as BMW ConnectedDrive. The BMW Concept 5 Series Gran Turismo offers an impressive outlook on the extension of the BMW 5 Series by a new, additional concept. With its stylish appearance and comfortable driving experience, the BMW Concept 5 Series Gran Turismo transfers the characteristics of a classic Gran Turismo to a very special four-door vehicle with four seats. At Geneva BMW is celebrating the European premiere of the new BMW Z4 Roadster. 1.35 million vehicles on the road with BMW EfficientDynamics clearly demonstrate how BMW Group is leading the competition in terms of CO2 reduction. BMW ConnectedDrive offers a unique portfolio of innovations in the three areas of motoring comfort, infotainment, and safety.

At the Geneva Motor Show BMW is presenting the new BMW Z4 Roadster in its European debut. Adrian van Hooydonk explains how the new Z4 offers greater elegance, it is sleeker and more stretched, and offers perfect harmony in its body lines. At the same time the design team re-interpreted classic roadster features such as the side gills in appropriate new style. This is the first BMW Roadster with typical roadster proportions and a retractable hardtop. It offers even greater agility, far more passenger and luggage space with higher qualities and value, an optional new double-clutch gearbox, an adjustable suspension and BMWs new iDrive.

Adrian van Hooydonk and Oliver Heilmer discuss design of the inspiring and elegant new concept from BMW. Over the last couple of months the press has speculated what BMW has in the cards for the Geneva Motor Show. "Progressive Activity Sedan" is a new vehicle category that is set to reshuffle the cards in the premium upper medium segment. Adrian van Hooydonk explains what "Progressive Activity Sedan" or PAS exactly stands for and how it defines a new category. With a semi-command seating position, perfect entry (no ‘climbing up’), headroom on BMW X5 level and legroom in the rear almost on the level of a BMW 7 Series long wheelbase, the BMW 5 Series Gran Turismo offers impressive dimensions and much more space for driver and passengers than you would expect when you see the car from the outside. From a design perspective, through its dynamic and elegant lines the BMW 5 Series Gran Turismo lives out all the character of a modern sedan with a fastback rear of a traditional Gran Turismo. Oliver Heilmer talks about the sophisticated interior and generous space for the driver and passergers, making this Concept a truly progressive automobile for customers who attach the same importance to a relaxed feeling of space and variability as to elegance and driving pleasure. Showcasing the twin trunk lid, Oliver Heilmer explains this unique feature that offers maximum flexibility. When was the last time you experienced something for the first time… surely fits this inspiring and elegant new concept from BMW.
BMW at the Geneva Motor Show 2009. BMW ConnectedDrive.
Chris Koenders explains the unique portfolio of innovations that are covered by BMW ConnectedDrive. The BMW ConnectedDrive innovations connect driver, car and outside world and focus on safety, convenience and infotainment. Chris Koenders explains a main safety feature of BMW ConnectedDrive: the Advanced eCall. Imagine you’re in an accident. The Advanced eCall ensures that the rescue forces have full details on the place and type of collision as well as possible injuries before they dispatch help to the scene of the accident. The latest innovation in the field of infotainment include BMW Routes, launched here at the Geneva Motor Show. BMW Routes currently offers specially selected routes for the connoisseur – including restaurants, sites and hotel accommodation. Chris Koenders demonstrate how he downloads a scenic Tour de Suisse. He then plugs the USB stick with the scenic route into the BMW Z4 Roadster, gets the route on the navigation system and is ready to go.
