In his latest attempt, he was saved by safety ropes as he tired to scale the glassy surface of Turkey's highest building.French climber Alain Robert, known as "Spiderman" for his daredevil rope-less ascents of the world's highest skyscrapers, scaled Turkey's tallest building in Istanbul on Tuesday.Robert is widely known for illegally climbing skyscrapers but this time he was invited to scale Sapphire, a recently completed building with a height of 261 meters.Sporting a pair of orange trousers, Robert was full of energy when he began using ropes and a harness but as he came closer to the top he faced an unexpected hurdle.[Alain Robert, "Spiderman" French Climber]:"On the last 15 meters of the building unfortunately there is some grease, there is some oil inside the groove, that becomes impossible to jam the right foot."Despite slippery glass surface the 49 year old climber scaled Turkey's highest building in an hour and 50 minutes.Robert has climbed more than 80 of the world's tallest structures, including the Eiffel Tower in Paris, Malaysia's Petronas Towers, and the 88-story Jin Mao Tower in Shanghai.He recently scaled Dubai's Burj Khalifa, the highest building in the world.

Il l'a grimpé les 828 mètres en 6h et 40mn encordé pour l'organisation Education Sans Frontière qui avait exigé une sécurité. Alain ROBERT a escaladé en solo intégral le mercredi 26 janvier le building Hang Seng à Hong Kong.

Alain Robert escalade la tour de la télévision Direct8. En 20mn il a effectué l'ascension de cet édifice proche de Paris sous les yeux de quelques centaines de personnes et en direct devant les caméras de la chaine.

New South Wales police arrested a French man in Sydney after he climbed to the top of a skyscraper, without safety gear and without permission, media reported. Alain Robert, known as "spiderman" is famous for climbing tall buildings around the world without ropes or climbing gear. The Lumiere is a high-rise apartment building in Sydney and stands 57-stories, or 176 metres tall. "It is pretty extraordinary stuff, I mean the fact that he is climbing without any ropes or any safety gear," said one onlooker. Media reports say Robert scaled the building in less than 30-minutes. When he arrived at the top, police were waiting for him. "The New South Wales police look very dimly on this, we had to use a number of different resources here today, obviously been a tremendous effect on the people of Sydney, we have had to close streets etcetera, so we will be prosecuting him to the full extend of the law," Mark Christie from NSW police local area command told media. Previously, Robert climbed the Petronas Tower in Kuala Lumpur, the Eiffel Tower in Paris and the New York Times building.

Alain Robert, a gravi ce matin 8 octobre 2009 la tour Ariane située sur le parvis de la Défense. Il a réussi à grimper cette tour de 152 mètres de haut en trente-six minutes, avant de réapparaître au pied de l'immeuble applaudi par près de 400 personnes et ce sans être inquiété par les forces de sécurité.
