Ski patrollers of La Grave
More photos and interview on: http://bit.ly/hFH51w"The area from the Meije valleys to La Grave is unique in the world. Up high, a small ski lift serves a piste on the glacier. Apart from that, there is nothing or close to nothing ... the only things are off-piste, ski-touring routes on the glacier, valleys, couloirs and forest -- almost 2000 vertical meters of pure mountain. Here, outside the only marked trail, there is no ski patrol and the area is not secured. Skiers accept their own responsibility. Keeping with the image of the area, the system established by La Grave is, to our knowledge, the only one like it in the world. We are four patrollers employed by the municipality. Our role is to keep an eye on the security situation in the area, to play a role of light prevention for the clients and an advisory role to the municipality for the opening or closure of the cable car."Jean Charles Bonsignore, Mountain Risk Patroller

CERRO TORRE English
Making-of the movie "Ritmo Latino" : The story of two alpinists, Bruno Sourzac and Ramiro Calvo, bewitched by the same mountain: Cerro Torre. In the heart of Patagonia, this granite monolith rejects many suitors, even the most gifted ones. Ramiro has produced a funny and touching film of the Franco-Argentinean team making the ascent. While not a tango, the music driving the climbers is a key element in the story. Ramiro talks about how and why he made the film, underlining values dear to Argentineans: friendship, laughter and passion… More infos on : http://www.petzl.com
CERRO TORRE Français
Making-of du film "Ritmo Latino" Avec Bruno Sourzac, Ramiro Calvo, Walter Rossini.
Scottish Icetrip in Ben Nevis - English
If there is one place on earth where climbers celebrate the arrival of the next snowstorm, it has to be Scotland. Each winter, pounded by the North Atlantic winds, the Scottish Highlands are covered by a layer of snow and frost at the mercy of weather conditions. Here, winter climbing has existed for more than a century, and the smell of adventure is as authentic as the whisky borne of the local peat. Climbing is done from the ground up, without bolts, and generally onsight. An introduction to the very modern ethics of Scottish mixed climbing. It's in those condition that Ueli Steck flashed "the secret" (X, 10), the hardest climb in Ben Nevis.See more of mountaineering videos, gear and techniques on :http://www.petzl.com/en/outdoor/activities-techniques/mountaineering
Introduction à la très moderne éthique écossaise d'escalade mixte...Avec Martial Dumas, Ueli Steck, Yann Mimet, Erwan Lelann, Mathieu Maynadier, Tony Lamiche, Aljaz Anderle et Andy Turner.

Makalu 8470m
The Makalu, the 5th summit of the world, from "Maha: Great" and "Kala: black" is located on the Tibeto-Nepalese border at 8470 m altitude in the Himalayan range, 20km away from the Everest (8848m).A slightly less high than the Lhotse (8516m), there has been little explored. Those who have observed this isolated pyramid that dominates a wilderness agree that is probably one of those 8000 who oppose the biggest resistance...Unlike Everest, the number of attempts each year on the summit of Makalu is very limited. An average of 150/year successful ascent of Everest against 11 for the Makalu.227 persons have reached the summit of Makalu since its first conquest in 1955. Only 15 French including 5 without oxygen and 10 people in the first 15 years. 9 Switzerland have also managed the summit. The original way we want to try is not successful by a French team for over 10 years. We have made the original way in 1955 (the North West side) without artificial oxygen. For more informations:http://www.makalu-2008.com

Outdoorgames MedeO-the director's cut !!
The final "director's cut" of the MedeO'z Team movie, shot and edited in one only week, during the Outdoorgames in Chamonix (February 2008). This is a 5-minute short film movie featuring 5 different sports: mountaineering, skiing, snowboarding, paragliding and base jumping. All the footage and editing had to be done in five days, from Monday to Friday and had to be shot in the Mount Blanc range. The movie had to be understandable for the international jury, so we made the voice-over in English. The idea was to tell the story of our photographer, who wanted to make one shot showing all the sports, instead of taking one picture of each sport (which took us a lot of work!!).To learn more about the movie and the project, please visit : http://petzlcrew.petzlteam.com//index.php/post/2008/03/07/Outdoorgames-Movie-The-Final-Cut Thanks to Petzl - the climbing gear manufacturer (www.petzl.com) and Ozone Paragliding (www.flyozone.com) A film by MédéO (http://www.medeo.fr)
