Irish Anthem - Hymne irlandais
If U love Ireland and want to share your videos with us, we bid you welcome in this group : IRELAND FOREVER - AWARE Ulead for the movie editing Named Amhrán na bhFiann in Irish and Soldier's Song in English CURFA (refrain, chorus) : Sinne Fianna Fáil Atá fé gheall ag Éirinn, buion dár slua Thar toinn do ráinig chugainn, Fé mhóid bheith saor. Sean tír ár sinsear feasta Ní fhágfar fé’n tiorán ná fé’n tráill Anocht a théam sa bhearna bhaoil, Le gean ar Ghaeil chun báis nó saoil Le gunni scréach fé lámhach na bpiléar Seo libh canaídh Amhrán na bhFiann. ENGLISH Soldiers are we Whose lives are pledged to Ireland; Some have come From a land beyond the wave. Sworn to be free, No more our ancient sire land Shall shelter the despot or the slave. Tonight we man the "varna-bwail" (gap of danger) In Erin's cause, come woe or weal ’Mid cannons' roar and rifles' peal, We'll sing a soldier's song.
Sinead O'Connor & Chieftains - Foggy Dew
The Chieftains are an Irish musical group founded in 1963, known for performing and popularizing Irish traditional music. Sinéad Marie O'Connor (born December 8, 1966) is an Irish singer and songwriter. Foggy Dew is a lamentful ballad of a young lover. It was published on a broadside around 1916, though Burl Ives, who popularized the song in the 1940s, claimed that it dated to colonial America. Ives was once jailed in Mona, Utah, for singing it in public, when authorities deemed it a bawdy song LYRICS As down the glen one Easter morn to a city fair rode I There Armed lines of marching men in squadrons passed me by No fife did hum nor battle drum did sound it's dread tatoo But the Angelus bell o'er the Liffey swell rang out through the foggy dew Right proudly high over Dublin Town they hung out the flag of war 'Twas better to die 'neath an Irish sky than at Sulva or Sud El Bar And from the plains of Royal Meath strong men came hurrying through While Britannia's Huns, with their long range guns sailed in through the foggy dew 'Twas Britannia bade our Wild Geese go that small nations might be free But their lonely graves are by Sulva's waves or the shore of the Great North Sea Oh, had they died by Pearse's side or fought with Cathal Brugha Their names we will keep where the fenians sleep 'neath the shroud of the foggy dew But the bravest fell, and the requiem bell rang mournfully and clear For those who died that Eastertide in the springing of the year And the world did gaze, in deep amaze, at those fearless men, but few Who bore the fight that freedom's light might shine through the foggy dew Ah, back through the glen I rode again and my heart with grief was sore For I parted then with valiant men whom I never shall see more But to and fro in my dreams I go and I'd kneel and pray for you, For slavery fled, O glorious dead, When you fell in the foggy dew.
GALWAY SHAWL - IRELAND
Galway Shawl by the Dubliners. Pour la video, un peu de tout parmi mes vieilles videos de Galway (dur de resumer une dizaine d'années de film en 3 minutes mais là, au moins, ce ne sont pas des films de famille) The Dubliners are an Irish folk band founded in 1962, making them one of the older bands that are still performing music presently. pour ceux qui aiment l'irlande : http://www.dailymotion.com/group/26344 At Orenmore in the County Galway, One pleasant evening in the month of May, I spied a damsel, she was young and handsome Her beauty fairly took my breath away. Chorus She wore no jewels, nor costly diamond No paint or powder, no, none at all. But she wore a bonnet with a ribbon on it And round her shoulder was a Galway Shawl. We kept on walking, she kept on talking, 'Till her father's cottage came into view. Says she: 'Come in, sir, and meet my father, And play to please him " The Foggy Dew." She sat me down beside the fire I could see her father, he was six feet tall. And soon her mother had the kettle singing All I could think of was the Galway shawl. I played "The Blackbird" and "The Stack of Barley", " Rodney's Glory" and "The Foggy Dew", She sang each note like an Irish linnet. Whilst the tears stood in her eyes of blue. Chorus 'Twas early, early, all in the morning, When I hit the road for old Donegal. She said 'Goodby, sir,'she cried and kissed me, And my heart remained with that Galway shawl. Chorus
Irish Rebel Song - Michael Collins
Michael ("Mick", "Big Fella") Collins (Irish: Mícheál Seán Ó Coileáin; (1890.10.16 –1922.08.22) was an Irish revolutionary leader, Minister for Finance in the Irish Republic, Director of Intelligence for the IRA, and member of the Irish delegation during the Anglo-Irish Treaty negotiations. He was shot and killed in August 1922, during the Irish Civil War. ---- In the movie, Liam Neeson stars as the title character ---- bricolé avec Ulead pour HellN Lyrics : Come listen all me true men to my simple rhyme For it tells of a young man cut off in his prime A soldier and a statesman who laid down the law, and, To die by the roaside in lone Beal na Bla When barely sixteen to England crossed o'er For to work as a boy in a government store But the Volunteers call he could not disobey So he came back to Dublin to join in the fray -Chorus- At Easter nineteen sixteen when Pearse called them out The men from the Dublin battalion roved out And in the post office they nobley did show How a handful of heros could outfight the foe. To Stafford and jails transported they were As prisonners of England they soon made a stir Released before Christmas and home once again He banded old comrades together to train Dail Eireann assembled our rights to proclaim Suppressed by the English you'd think it's a shame How Ireland's best and bravest were harried and torn From the Arms of their loved ones and children new born. For years Mick eluded their soldiers and spies For he was the master of clever disguise With the Custom House blazing she found t'was no use And soon Mother England had asked for a truce Oh when will the young men a sad lesson spurn That brother and brother they never should turn Alas that a split in our ranks 'ere we saw Mick Collins stretched lifeless in lone Beal na Bla Oh long will old Ireland be seeking in vain Ere we find a new leader to match the man slain A true son of Grainne his name long will shine O gallant Mick Collins cut off in his prime.

U2 - Tribute to The Dubliners
U2 rend hommage aux Dubliners... avec un Bono tout jeune et pas encore très sûr de lui.. en tout cas très ému LYRICS : SPRINGHILL MINE DISASTER In the town of Springhill, Nova Scotia Down in the dark of the Cumberland Mine There's blood on the coal and the miners lie In the roads that never saw sun nor sky. (x2) In the town of Springhill, you don't sleep easy Often the earth will tremble and roll When the earth is restless, miners die Bone and blood is the price of coal. (x2) In the town of Springhill, Nova Scotia Late in the year of fifty-eight Day still comes and the sun still shines (But it's) Dark as the grave in the Cumberland mine. (x2) Down at the coal face, miners working Rattle of the belt and the cutter's blade Rumble of the rock and the walls closed round (The) Living and the dead men two miles down. (x2) Twelve men lay two miles from the pitshaft Twelve men lay in the dark and sang Long hot days in the miners tomb (It was) Three feet high and a hundred long. (x2) Three days past and the lamps gave out And Kaela Brushton got up and and said There’s no more water, or light, or bread (So we'll) Live on song and hope instead. (x2) Listen for the shouts of the barefaced miners Listen thru the rubble for a rescue team Six hundred feet of coal and slag Hope imprisoned in a three foot seam. (x2) Eight days passes and some were rescued Leaving the dead to lie alone Thru all their lives they dug their grave Two miles of earth for a marking stone. (x2) The Dubliners are an Irish folk band founded in 1962, making them one of the older bands that are still performing music presently. Flatley dreamed of putting together a dance show capable of playing in arenas instead of traditional theaters. [1] He soon began thinking of rhythm patterns and steps for an a capella number. This number would later become "Planet Ireland", the show's finale. The show took 6 months to bring it from conception to the stage. Auditions were held in the SFX City Theatre in Dublin.

Molly Malone Dublin
2006 - 1014 0052 Molly Malone Near The Trinity College and Grafton Street WIKIPEDIA : "Molly Malone" (also known as "Cockles And Mussels") is the unofficial anthem of Dublin City in Ireland. The song is sung by supporters of Dublin GAA, Leinster Rugby teams and Irish international rugby team, and tells the tale of a beautiful fishmonger who plied her trade on the streets of Dublin, but died young, of a fever. Statue of Molly on Grafton Street Statue of Molly on Grafton Street Molly is commemorated in a statue designed by Jeanne Rynhart [1], placed at the bottom of Grafton Street in Dublin, erected to celebrate the city's first millennium in 1987; this statue is known colloquially as 'The Tart With The Cart', 'The Dish With The Fish' and 'The Trollop With The Scallops'. The statue portrays Molly as a busty young woman in seventeenth-century dress, and is claimed to represent the real person on whom the song is based. Her low-cut dress and large breasts were justified on the grounds that as 'women breastfed publicly in Molly's time, breasts were popped out all over the place'.
