FILMACHINE (1)
FILMACHINEKeiichiro Shibuya [jp], Takashi Ikegami [jp]Three circles of loudspeakers are suspended from the ceiling above an abstract landscape. On entering the space, the visitor starts the composition with a button at the center of the piece, triggering an immersive audio-visual experience in a 3-dimensional soundscape, enhanced by a specially designed LED lighting system. For the exhibition in Berlin, Keiichiro Shibuya creates a new composition which is presented here as a world premiere. It is based on research of complex systems and makes use of cellular automata and logistic maps for sound synthesis. The accompanying CD 'filmachine phonics' emulates the spatial experience of the installation within the limited acoustic space of stereo headphones.

Standard Time
Standard Time Datenstrudel [de], Mark Formanek [de] Lounge: Wednesday 30/1 - Sunday 10/2, 10:00 - 22:00 @ Foyer ‘Standard-Time’ is a performance, the documentation of which serves as a 24hour time-display. Over a period of 24 hours, a 10 by 4 meter replica digital time display made of wood is updated in real-time. 70 workers continuously dismantle and rebuild the numbers in sequence. The documentation of this performance brings into being a very special digital clock built from boards, bolts and clamps that is manually adjusted in real-time.
Ibitsu [jp/ee] - HYSTERE (1)
hystere @ Auditorium Participants: ibitsu [jp/ee] "hystere" is an experiment in improvisation within premeditated boundaries in which the e-Clambone provides the sole source for the ensuing multimodal environment. e-Clambone is a custom-built, fully integrated electronic instrument that consists of an aerophone supplied with haptic sensors and digital signal processing algorithms in MaxMSP software. The musical expresson of e-Clambone is further extended by a set of complex systems and stochastics driven algorithms and spatialized in Ambisonics surround system written in the SuperCollider programming environment. The visual aspect seeks moments of convergence and divergence with the audio utilizing attack-tracking triggers and live video feed from the performance and is implemented as a library of OpenGL classes, that listen to Open Sound Control messages over the ethernet.

a plaything for the great observers at rest
a plaything for the great observers at rest Norimichi Hirakawa [jp] Cluster "Bio-Organic Systems" Is the earth going around the sun, or is the sun turning around the earth? This refers to the "heliocentric theory / geocentric theory" that is the subject argued over the relationship between space and the earth since ancient times. As a matter of fact, everyone knows that it is scientifically the heliocentric system, but what about switching the heliocentric to the geocentric system in our personal subjective world? This work deals with such conversion of our viewpoint. At hand, the interface is installed in which the rotation of the earth on its axis, the revolution of the earth, and the revolution axis are operated, and the hub of the universe can be replaced. According to their changes, the image and sound of the sky and space projected on the floor change dynamically.
End of Secrecy // Bureau d`Etudes [fr]
End of Secrecy Bureau d'Etudes [fr] For the last several years, Bureau d'Etudes have been producing maps of contemporary political, social and economical systems. These visual analyses of transnational capitalism are based on elaborated research and are mostly shown as large-sized murals. In illustrating what normally remains invisible and in connecting to a whole what seems to be singular and without relation these visualisations of structures of power and ownership function as a kind of 'resymbolisation-machines'. Their contribution to transmediale.08 will be the development of a new interactive cartography entitled "End of Secrecy", dealing with hidden and secret phenomena of the loss of privacy.
the electronic unicorn
the electronic unicorn @ Café Global Participants: Georg Holzmann [at] "the electronic unicorn" is an audio performance with the unicorn interface. The unicorn interface consists of 3 main parts: a glove with contacts on the fingertips, a board with 4 contact plates and a potentiometer on the forehead, the unicorn. The goal of the interface is, to be able to control various parameters at the same time. If you touch one of the four contact plates, you can control a specific parameter with the unicorn, relative to it's current value. Here it is important, with which finger you touch a plate, because each finger corresponds to one (musical) voice.
