hurricane chris - hand clap [new]
Chris Dooley, Jr.(born 1989) known by his stage name Hurricane Chris, is a rapper from Shreveport, Louisiana. Rapping since he was 2 years old, Hurricane Chris gained local attention with his indie singles "Ya Hear Me" and "Yep" along with mixtape appearances.[3] Explaining how he got his name in an interview with the Baton Rouge, Louisiana newspaper The Advocate, "After I sang, the crowd would be silent. It was like a hurricane had just blown through." He was also featured as a lead dancer in Sean Paul's "Shake That Thing". With the release of the single "A Bay Bay" during the summer of 2007 Hurricane Chris broke out of the regional scene and onto MTV. Inspired after he caught DJ Hollyhood Bay Bay being welcomed at a club with the audience chanting "Hey Bay Bay!", he then used the sound of ratchet music -- Shreveport's version of crunk or hyphy -- to create a hook of repetitive synthesizer sounds over a crowd chanting "A Bay Bay". Hurricane Chris joined the Stupid House Records record label, based in the inner-city Cedar Grove neighborhood of Shreveport. As Lava House was releasing the successful singles "Ratchet" in 1999 and then the 2004 "Ratchet" remix with Lil' Boosie, Chris transformed the chant he heard into a catchphrase, "A Bay Bay," which became local slang for "fo' sho" (for sure). The single caught the ear of Atlanta's Mr. Collipark. The music producer helped the then 18-year-old Hurricane Chris sign a deal with J Records in 2007. His debut album, titled 51/50 Ratchet, is scheduled for release for October 16, 2007. The video for "A Bay Bay" was shot in the Cedar Grove neighborhood and features local landmarks and crowds singing along to the song. Hurricane Chris's second single will be "The Hand Clap".

The group started in 1991 in Memphis with three members: DJ Paul (Paul Beauregard), Juicy J (Jordan Houston), and Lord Infamous (Ricky Dunigan). The original name for the hip hop group was Backyard Posse, followed shortly after by Triple Six Mafia. The group formed through release of many EPs from their own record company with Nicky Scarfo, Prophet Entertainment, later launching their own label, Hypnotize Minds Records; during their early career, they also propelled the careers of several other rappers. At this point in the group's evolution, having signed to a major label and having scored an admirable hit single, group leaders Juicy J and DJ Paul began extending their brand. They started by releasing group member solo albums (Gangsta Boo, Koopsta Knicca), non-group member solo albums (Project Pat, The Kaze) and also compilation-styled albums (Tear Da Club Up Thugs, Hypnotize Camp Posse, Da Headbussaz, and Prophet Posse). Around this time, they also released collections of tracks from earlier years (Underground Vol. 1: (1991-1994), Underground Vol. 2: Club Memphis, Underground Vol. 3: Kings of Memphis).

His single "Icy" (music video directed by Lisa Cunningham) has become a major hit (debuted at #24 on Billboard Hot Rap Song Charts), and his album, Trap House, (which came out the day he was released on $100,000 bond for murder)[citation needed], debuted at #101 on the billboard 200. Lil Troy ft Lil Flip - We Gon Lean
Lil' Troy, who featured in his songs many members of the Screwed Up Click, managed to break out of Houston's thriving rap scene in the late '90s with "Wanna Be a Baller," one of the few Houston-based songs to reach national audiences. The track was actually written by fellow Houston rapper E.S.G., although he was never credited with it, and still holds a grudge over the situation. The song propelled his debut album, "Sittin' Fat Down South", to respectable success, particularly for a Houston artist. Released in 1998, Universal picked up the album, re-released it in 1999, and helped "Wanna Be a Baller" spread from city to city. That was about all the success Troy had for a while, though. As the late '90s became the early 2000s, "Wanna Be a Baller" still garnered play, but Troy couldn't deliver a strong follow-up single, instead watching his moment of opportunity diminish. His last album was a screwed and chopped version of his album "Back to Ballin." His relatively upscale, contemporary, casual clothing line hit the streets in May 2006. Wesley Eric Weston, Jr. (born March 3, 1981 in Houston, Texas), better known as Lil' Flip, is an American rapper known for his freestyle ability, and for becoming one of the first Houston rap artists to become mainstream and nationally known. Lil' Flip was given the title of "Freestyle King" by the late DJ Screw. He is also a member of the Screwed Up Click. He was featured in Pepsi's Yahoo! "Houston Mic Pass" with Chamillionaire, Trae, Chingo Bling, Bun B, Short Dawg, H.A.W.K, Magno and Mike D. In 2006 he featured on Playalitical's Code Green album on the single "Its Been One". He also recently was featured on Underground Chicano Rapper Mr. Capone-E's track "Drop Top Chevy" which also features fellow band label member Mr. Criminal.
