The Blue Angels
Formed in 1946 under the directive of Admiral Chester Nimitz, the Blue Angels are the US Navy's Flight Demonstration Squadron. In the course of their history they have used the F6F Hellcat, F8F Bearcat, F9F Panther(first jet), F9F-8 Cougar, F11 Tiger, F-4 Phantom, A-4 Skyhawk and shown here the F/A-18 Hornet.

Vintage WWII colour footage of P-47 fighter-bombers of the 377th Squadron in Eta.
Panavia Tornado
The Panavia Tornado is a family of twin-engine fighters, which was jointly developed by the United Kingdom, Germany and Italy. The aircraft has a variably swept delta wing to provide high peformance at both all speeds and altitudes.
USAF F-15/16
The Boeing F-15 and General Dynamics F-16 are all-weather tactical fighters designed from the ground-up for air superiority, used my the USAF and their allies.
A-10 Thunderbolt
The A-10 is literally built around its 30-mm GE GAU-8 Avenger seven barrel cannon, the most powerful gun ever fitted to an aircraft of this class. It was designed for high-survivability with a titanium cover surrounding both the cockpit, ammunition and fuel tank. Placement of the engines decreases the infrared signature lowering it's vulnerablity to heatseeking missiles and ground fire.
XB-70 Valkyrie
A 1960s coldwar supersonic strategic nuclear bomber, and holder of the record for the largest Experimental plane. It could fly at Mach 3.08 and achieve an altitude of 74,000 ft using it's 6 engines. When using the experimental fuel ethyl borane, one engine alone made more noise than any air-breathing engine in history. Development of the two prototypes was to cost around $1,500M USD, making them the most expensive two aircraft built to that date.
SR-71 Blackbird
Developed for the USAF as reconnaissance aircraft more than 40 years ago, SR-71s are still the world's fastest and highest-flying production aircraft. The aircraft can fly more than 2200 mph (Mach 3+ or more than three times the speed of sound) and at altitudes of over 85,000 feet. As research platforms, the aircraft can cruise at Mach 3 for more than one hour.
F-111 Aardvark
The F-111 is a supersonic multipurpose tactical fighter bomber capable of carrying conventional as well as nuclear weapons . The two crew members sit side-by-side in a pressurized cockpit module that serves as an emergency escape vehicle and as a survival shelter on land or water.
U.S.A.F. Combat
United States Airforce F-15's and F-16's putting the hurt on those that oppose.
B52 Stratofortress
The Boeing B-52 Stratofortress was originally designed to supercede the B-36 and carry nuclear weapons for the SAC during the coldwar. It never delivered nuclear weapons in combat, but dropped nearly all the weapons tested in the Pacific during the 50/60's including the first air-deliverable H-bomb in 1956. The B-52 entered service in 1954 and has served in every major conflict since then. It is not expected to be decomsissioned until at least 2040, an unprecedented service length for a military aircraft.
Spaceshipone
04/10/04 the private spacecraft SpaceShipOne reached an altitude of 69.6 miles claiming the $10M Ansari X-Prize. The craft was lofted to 14km by the White Knight aicraft, it then engaged its Hybrid rocket motor taking it into a 100km suborbit.
The A-10 Thunderbolt II
The A-10 was designed for high-survivability with a titanium cover surrounding both the cockpit, ammunition and fuel tank. Placement of the engines decreases the infrared signature lowering it's vulnerablity to heatseeking missiles and ground fire. Version: Filesize: 0 bytes

B-2 Spirit
Northrop Grumman B-2 Spirit is a multi-role stealth heavy bomber. The B-2's composite materials, special coatings and flying-wing design all contribute to its "stealthiness." One of the most expensive planes ever built: estimates for the costs per plane range from 1.1 to 2.2 billion USD.
Avro Vulcan
The Avro Vulcan was an RAF delta wing subsonic bomber which operated from 1953 until 1984. The Vulcan was part of the RAF's V bomber force, which fulfilled the role of nuclear deterrence during the Cold War. It was also capable of a conventional bombing role.
V Bomber
The RAF's V-bomber force consisted of three high peformance strategic bombers, the Valient, Victor and Vulcan forming the United Kingdom's strategic nuclear strike force duing the 1950s and 1960s. Under the Quick Reaction Alert (QRA) system, the aircraft could be scrambled in under 2 minutes in response to an attack. This was made possible using a system called "Mass Rapid Startup" which allowed the entire aircraft and all 4 engines to be started with one button. The Vulcan was armed first with the fission weapon Blue Danube, superseded by the thermonuclear Yellow Sun.
Hawker Hunter
The Hawker Hunter was a single engine two seat British jet fighter aircraft of the 1950s and 1960s. Powered by the non-afterburning Rolls Royce Avon axial flow turbojet, the first prototype flew in 1951. It was Britain's first indigenous swept wing fighter to enter service and briefly held the world speed record in 1953. It formed the backbone of the Royal Air Force fighter force from 1954-1961 and remained in front line service until the early seventies, the last examples only being withdrawn in 1995. Nearly two thousand Hunters of all types were built for a number of different air forces.
