A wealthy, but evil man named Zafar Khan (Kader Khan), has fallen in love with a girl named Salma (Waheeda Rahman) and wants to marry her, but she and her father do not let him. Zafar is arrested for various crimes and is imprisoned for 10 years, but when he is discharged, he sees that Salma is married to a good man named Aslam Khan (Satyendra Kapoor). Zafar Khan, wants to convince Salma to marry him but Salma refuses. Zafar plots his revenge of killing her father, injuring Aslam and Salma, causing her to lose her memory.Salma is also separated from her young son, Iqbal (Amitabh Bachchan). Faraar movie is based around a middle-class man, Rajesh (Amitabh Bachchan) living with his sister. He is in love with a young woman, and he intends to marry her once he has found a potential husband to take care of his sister. However, one day the sister is raped and murdered and the police are unable to find any clues and it is left to Rajesh to find the murderers and avenge her death. He traces the murderer and kills him, and is therefore now on the run from the police himself. Rajesh abducts a child as a hostage and seeks refuge in a house only to later learn that the child is the son of his former lover (Sharmila Tagore), who is now married to a Police Inspector (Sanjeev Kumar). Rajesh is torn in two - whether to release the child, or to use him to make an escape.
Bharathi plays an abandoned wife of a playboy (Vinod Mehra). She has a child with him and couldn't cope raising the baby boy alone and leaves him outside of a temple, where he gets taken in by a rikshawala (Mehmood). The boy develops polio because of the shabby living conditions, and the rikshawala feels guilty after a doctor (Sanjeev Kumar) admonishes him. He takes care of the boy and loves him as his own. In the mean time, the boy's real-life parents reconcile and turn to a police officer (Vinod Khanna) for help in finding their missing son. Finally, when the child is 12 years old, he is reconciled with the parents, but the rikshawala won't give him up. The policeman urges him to do, as the wealthy parents can pay for the operation that can make the boy walk again. He does sorrowfully. But the boy comes back with his parents to see the rikshawala die. After his death, Mehmood, the actor, gets up and explains to the audience that his death was for the camera, but polio is real and deadly and that people should get their children vaccinated.
Shaheed (1965) presents the inspirational biography of one of India's greatest patriots Sardar Bhagat Singh. It is the year 1916 in India, a year that Sardar Kishan Singh, his wife, their children, including son, Bhagat, and their parents will never forget, for it was the day his brother, Ajit Singh, sang out against the British, was arrested, escaped from prison, & has never been heard of again. This does have an impact on young Bhagat Singh's mind, so much so that when he grows up he joins the freedom fighting movement, being headed by Chandrashekar Azad. It is then that an unarmed freedom fighter, protesting the Simon Commission, is killed by Police. Bhagat, Chandrashekar Ajad, Rajguru, Sukhdev, and Jaygopal avenge this death by killing the Assistant Commissioner Saunders. The entir film is based on how freedom fighter Bhagat Singh fights with the britishers to gain freedom and independence. Bhagat singh ,Rajguru and Sukhdev are given death sentence for waging a war against England ,fearing from public oppositon Sukhdev ,Bhagat Singh and Rajguru are secretly sent to the gallows a day before and become Martyrs, shouting INKALAB JINDABAD!-LONG LIVE THE REVOLUTION!

The film re-tells a popular Indian tale, which was previously filmed as Loves of a Mughal Prince (1928) and Anarkali (1953). It is loosely based on an episode in the life of the Mughal Prince Salim, who went on to become the Emperor Jahangir (r. 1608 - 1627). In the movie, the great conqueror Akbar (played by Prithviraj Kapoor) and his Rajput wife, Jodha Bai (played by Durga Khote) pray to have a son. Akbar himself offers rituals, so that he may have a successor. The news of the son's birth is brought to Emperor Akbar by Anarkali's mother, a maid. Overjoyed at his prayers being answered, the Emperor gives to the maid his ring and promises to grant her any wish she asks.The son, Salim, grows up to be a the weak and pleasure-loving prince, played by Dilip Kumar. Salim falls in love with Anarkali (Madhubala), a court-dancer. He wants to marry her and arranges secret meetings between Anarkali and himself. However, the jealous Bahaar, a dancer of a higher rank, wants the crown of India and she attempts to make the prince love her so she may ascend to queenship. She exposes the love between the prince and the dancer. Salim pleads for Anarkali's hand, but his father objects and throws Anarkali into prison. Despite imprisonment, Anarkali refuses to reject Salim.Salim rebels against his father, is defeated in battle, and is sentenced to death. Before his sentencing, Akbar's subjects spontaneously erupt into a gathering and plead before the Emperor to not kill his only son, and the Empire's only prince. Anarkali too pleads for his life in exchange for her own, and is condemned to death by walling up alive. However, it is revealed to Akbar that he owed a favor to Anarkali's mother, since she informed him of the birth of his son. Anarkali's mother takes advantage of this, and begs for her daughter's life. The emperor relents, and arranges for Anarkali's secret escape into exile. Unfortunately, it is still announced that Anarkali was killed, and Salim is heartbroken.

Mahesh Deshmukh (Anil Kapoor) has joined the nation's armed forces as that he can honestly and patriotically serve the country. During his college days he has a run-in with fellow-collegian Mohini (Madhuri Dixit). A bet between his friends and himself ends up with him falling in love with Mohini, who subsequently realizes that he indeed has fallen in love with her, and she too reciprocates. Mohini's dad (Anupam Kher) is an alcoholic and wishes that Mohini takes up dancing and prostitution so that he can get his daily dose of alchol. Mohini attempts to take refuge with Mahesh, however, cirumstances tangle Mahesh to such an extent that he is arrested, charged, and sentenced to stay away from Bombay city limits. When Mahesh returns, it is no longer the honest, and patriotic Mahesh, but a gangster named Munna, who has many old scores to settle.

Vijay Kumar is an young man living in a small town in rural India, who makes his living farming. He hopes to change his lifestyle and that of the townspeople by building a hospital with the help of attractive young doctor Rekha, who he is in love with, so much so that he is willing to donate his land. Rekha suggests that he approach the District Collector to get permission to build a hospital at another vacant spot, which he does. The Collector assures them that necessary approval will be granted. But the local Zamindar of the region, Ranjit Kumar, has other plans of his own, as he intends to build a Cinema House in his lovers (Sheela) name. When he faces opposition, he quietly backs away, and lets Rekha, Vijay and the townspeople lay the foundation of the hospital. Thereafter chaos breaks out in Vijay's life, as he is arrested by the police for killing Sheela. Vijay is tried in Court, and sentenced to life in prison. Vijay manages to escape so that he can find the real culprits and clear his name, but before he can do that he has to by-pass Jailer Shardadevi and Police Inspector Neeraj Kumar - both of whom have sworn to have him back behind bars in a short a time as possible.
Bombay-based Anu lives a wealthy lifestyle along with her businessman dad, Jaggu Kailashnath, and mom. While on a vacation at Ooty she meets with and falls in love with Vishal, who also lives in Bombay, and works as a photographer in 'Target' an agency where he is also a partner. Anu's dad approves of him and gets them both married. They live a fairly harmonious lifestyle which is shattered when Anu suspects Vishal of having an affair with Rosie. They do manage to patch-up but misunderstandings re-occur after Vishal finds out that he is being dog-trained, and that Anu maybe having an affair with a male named Ranjeet Mullick.

In Calcutta, Sapna becomes an instant hit on the stage through Ashok Babu (Vijay Sharma). One day, Ashok proposes to her. Does Sapna climb down from her ladder of fame and return to her poor past? The story is about Hiraman, a rustic villager from a remote village in Araria (Bihar), who drives a bullock cart to earn his livelihood. The story begins with Hiraman taking two consecutive vows based on the difficult situations he had to undergo, before he meets a nautanki dancer, Hirabai. The story soon transforms into the story of the friendship between a bullock cart driver and an urban nautanki dancer. The movie, finally, ends with Hiraman taking the third vow. Hiraman is a bullock cart driver with conservative traditional values. While smuggling illegal goods on his bullock cart and close escape from police, Hiraman takes vow (first Kasam) to never carry illegal goods again in his cart. While transporting bamboo for timber trader on his bullock cart, he is beaten by two men when their horses are upset by bamboos of Hiraman's cart. After that incident, Hiraman takes another vow (second Kasam) to never carry bamboo again in his cart. One night, Hiraman is asked to carry Hirabai, a nautanki dancer as a passenger to the 40 miles distance to the village fair. As they travel together Hiraman sings to pass time and tells her story of the legend of Mahua. As the journey progresses, Hirabai is mesmerized by Hiraman's innocence and his simple philosophy of life. Hiraman in return sees her as an angel of purity. Once they reach the village fair, Hiraman joins with his band of bullock cart drivers and Hirabai joins the nautanki company. Hirabai asks Hiraman to stay at village fair for a few days to see her dance. Hirabai arranges free passes for Hiraman and his friends to see nautanki on every night as long as village fair runs. As Hiraman attends nautanki, he becomes aware that other people see her as a prostitute and it disturbs him. He tries to shield and protect her from society. The bond between two grows stronger as the days pass at the fair. He gets involved in fights with local people who speak badly about her and her profession. Hirabai tries to make him understand the harsh reality of her life. Hiraman asks her to leave her profession and start living a respectable life. Hirabai refuses to leave her acting career. Depressed, Hiraman leaves village fair and returns to his village. In the mean time, Hirabai understands Hiraman's unselfish love. Hirabai meets Hiraman and reveals her past secret that she had been already sold and she was no longer a virgin beauty. Hirabai returns to her hometown. After seeing Hirabai going away from his life, Hiraman takes third vow (teesri Kasam) to never carry a nautanki company dancer again in his cart.
