Drag Coursing
Drag coursing, in which dogs chase an artificial plastic lure, eliminates the hare suffering associated with live hare coursing.Every coursing season in Ireland, hares suffer the stress of being removed from their habitats, thrown into boxes and confined in enclosures for weeks and months.During coursing, hares suffer the fear of running for their lives in front of greyhounds. The hares that are hit suffer life-threatening internal injuries. Among the injuries are broken bones and dislocated hips. Hares may also die from stress-related capture myopathy, days and weeks after re-release back to the wild. The footage in this video was filmed in the US.Music "DLDN Instrumental" thanks to TimbermanJoin our campaign to secure a ban on hare coursing:Click on "Campaigns" at www.banbloodsports.comPlease consider supporting our work with a donation - Click on the Paypal button at www.banbloodsports.comThank you for your support.

Drag Hunting - The humane alternative
Drag hunting is the humane alternative to hunting with hounds. Instead of chasing a live animal, the pack of hounds follow a scent laid along the ground by members of the hunt. Some draghunts use a cloth soaked in aniseed, animal urine and paraffin and this is dragged across the countryside before the start of the "hunt".Draghunts which use bloodhounds simply follow the scent of a human on foot. There are several drag hunts operating in Ireland at present. Drag hunting is also sometimes practised by existing foxhunting groups - either as a way to exercise the hounds or in addition to their blood sport activities. The same hounds are used in both, proving that the transition from cruelty to compassion, which most Irish citizens desire, is very simple to arrange. Drag hunting is the future for hunting in Ireland.Join our campaign today at www.banbloodsports.com. Thank you.
Ban Foxhunting in Ireland
Please join the campaign against foxhunting in Ireland by clicking on Campaigns at www.banbloodsports.com Foxhunting is a cruel blood sport in which foxes are chased to exhaustion and ripped apart by a pack of hounds. If the fox manages to escape underground, the hunt's terriermen are called in to dig the fox out of the ground. A majority of Irish people want foxhunting banned. Join the campaign today to convince the government that the time has now come to follow the example of England, Scotland and Wales and finally ban this deplorable abuse of one of the country's favourite wild creatures.

Hunts on our roads - Ireland
When hunts come on to public roads, they cause inconvenience and potential danger to motorists and other road users. If you spot a hunt blocking a road or interfering with the freeflow of traffic, please immediately report the incident to the Gardai.
Landowners and hunts
(This video can also be viewed by clicking on Videos at www.banbloodsports.com) The problems experienced by farmers and other Irish landowners when hunts come on to their property. Please see below for our advice to landowners... Unless hunters hold sporting rights to hunt on your property (this is not usually the case but if so, it will be specified on the title deeds to the property), neither they nor their dogs have a right to trespass on your property. Under the (Control of Dogs Act), dogs must be kept "under effectual control" so if hunt hounds come on to property where they do not have permission to be, this would be an offence and the Gardai should be notified. (If possible, take photos or video footage to prove it took place). If trespass occurs by members of the hunt, the Gardai should be notified as well. Sometimes hunts will say something like "we go where the dogs go" or "we didn't know we weren't allowed to enter your property" but this is not acceptable. If they didn't receive permission to enter the property, they should not be there. Irish farmers affected by hunt trespass may wish to contact the Farmers Against Foxhunting and Trespass organisation which offers advice to landowners. Their chairman, Philip Lynch, can be reached at 00 353 56 7725309. Please also visit www.banbloodsports.com and click on "Farmers" for lots more information on keeping hunts off your property.
