There's a Reason to Live Tomorrow Shen Yun Performing Arts, Philadelphia official
Shen Yun Performing Arts is showing in the Mirriam Theater, Philadelphia to a packed house. Richard Gaglio says he's seen all the best performances the city has had to offer over the last forty years, but never before has a show taken him to heaven. Full Story: Shen Yun Performing Arts is performing in the Mirriam Theater, Philadelphia to a packed house. Richard Gaglio says he's seen all the best performances the city has had to offer over the last forty years, but never before has a show taken him to heaven. [Richard Gaglio, Owner, Computer Sales Company]: "From that day till now, nothing has excited me as much as seeing this Shen Yun dance troop. It, it blesses you, it moves you, and it makes you think beyond just, just who you are, and it gives you hope that, that the best is yet to come. Gaglio felt Shen Yun brings peace and joy, and builds hope. [Richard Gaglio, Owner, Computer Sales Company]: "Each dance sequence, everything that, their, their faces their movements, all at the end say 'there's hope for tomorrow, there's a reason to live tomorrow, there's a reason to go on tomorrow' and when you can do that without speaking you've elevated not only yourself, but the audience to a place that they don't get a place to go. Ever." He noticed the audience is spellbound not wanting to miss a moment. [Richard Gaglio, Owner, Computer Sales Company]: "There's electricity in the air, it makes you want to see more, it makes you want to look more, it makes you part of the show. You're not just sitting and watching, you are sitting and being part of something. Bigger than what you are. And, if you notice, there's nobody talking, there's nobody looking around, everybody is riveted right there on each and every dancer, on each and every movement. I'd come back, if I live to be a hundred I'll come back every year." He says Shen Yun will change the world. [Richard Gaglio, Owner, Computer Sales Company]: "You said it in the first song, something in in the effect, atheism is a lie, evolution is a sham, but heaven, this will take you back to heaven. And it does. Can you be blessed more than that in one night? I don't think so. And, and there isn't an empty seat in the house. It should be sold out all across the world. Because if you do this, you'll find, at least for that night, people come together without their prejudices, without their preconceived ideas, people will come together for that moment. And if they can come together for that moment, they can come together for another moment, and another moment and another moment and over the years this, this dance will make a difference, not just in New York city, not just in Philadelphia, but throughout the world." From Philadelphia, Shen Yun moves on to Madison, Wisconsin, May 7-9. Japanese Painter Enthralled with Shen Yun Performing Arts, Nagoya official
Shen Yun Performing Arts presents 5000 years of divine Chinese culture and is currently showing in the Aichi Prefectural Arts Theater in Nagoya, Japan. Full story: Shen Yun Performing Arts presents 5000 years of divine Chinese culture and is currently showing in the Aichi Prefectural Arts Theater in Nagoya, Japan. The President of the International School Of Art, Ito Miharu was in the audience. It's the third time he's seen Shen Yun and he is amazed that a new show can be produced every year. [Ito Miharu, President, International School of Art]: "I feel the weight of five thousand years' history of Chinese culture. I think it's a wonderful thing. For Japan, China is like a parent, and we received the culture of food, lodging, politics, language, everything from China. So next time there will come an era for Japan to return these back." Ito Miharu greatly admired the creativity of Shen Yun Performing Arts. [Ito Miharu, President, International School of Art]: "This year they added new creations for the dance, I think it's great. The difficulty of such perceptual expression, even for us Japanese painters, the pain of giving birth to a new work, is great." He believes that Shen Yun's use of color, reflects the superiority of Chinese culture. [Ito Miharu, President, International School of Art]: "During the creation, for example, giving golden color to the costume, giving a pale sky blue dress when flying up to heaven. And at first glance, people usually draw the color of gold or yellow....I think the color scheme is very well done. Compared to other countries, I think China is the best in this regard." Ito Miharu was also impressed with the authentic paintings used in the backdrop. Shen Yun will now visit Yokosuka for two performances on Sunday April 28th. "Seeing the Chinese culture in that way—so colorful and vibrant and full of life." "It made everyone feel that they could understand it. It was simple yet very intricate, which was amazing." Brilliant Olympian on Shen Yun Performing Arts in Paris official
http://www.shenyun.com Olympic figure skating Bronze Medalist, Phillippe Candeloro, watched Shen Yun perform in Paris, France. He was amazed at the similarities to figure skating. Full Story: Olympic figure skating Bronze Medalist, Phillippe Candeloro, watched Shen Yun perform in Paris, France. He was amazed at the similarities to figure skating. [Phillippe Candeloro, French Olympian, Figure Skating]: "It's a wonderful show, because first we see a lot of figures that are similar to artistic ice skating when the dancers spin on the floor, we wonder how they can do it without having ice under their feet. And I find there is a good harmony between all the dancers, that is very brilliant." The cooperation and friendship shown by Shen Yun's dancers left Candeloro very impressed. [Phillippe Candeloro, French Olympian, Figure Skating]: "What we also see in this show is that all the dancers worked very hard to be present on stage today, and they are all on the same level, that is to say there is not one of them that tries to surpass the other. They play different roles in the show but in the chorus they all enjoy it, we don't feel any competition between them. On the contrary, everybody is in perfection with a smile and a lot a lightness." Candeloro truly appreciates that Shen Yun is sharing legends from Chinese history with Europeans. [Phillippe Candeloro, French Olympian, Figure Skating]: "Unfortunately, we don't always have this in France and in all the shows that I have seen until now. It is very colorful, the costumes are extraordinary. There are legends that us Europeans know very little about, so we get into the story and it's very interesting. I also liked that there's a lot humor in this show." Shen Yun's unique choreography with the animated backdrop led the audiences' imagination. [Phillippe Candeloro, French Olympian, Figure Skating]: "What I also find very good, is the interaction between the backdrop screen and the dancers, I think it's a great success. Beautiful drawings and sketches done on a big screen that stimulate our imagination." At the end of its Paris performances, Shen Yun wraps up its 2013 tour of Europe. It's amazing and the costumes are beautiful. Colorful. And the silk just flying with the dancers. We saw on the internet how hard they work and practice and how they are sweating. German Conductor Trinks "Shen Yun's Conductor is brilliant!" official
Shen Yun Perfuming Arts finished a four-show-run over the Easter holidays in Frankfurt. Full Story: Shen Yun Perfuming Arts finished a four-show-run over the Easter holidays in Frankfurt and left a deep impression on the audience. Constantin Trinks, who attended one of the shows in Frankfurt, conducts symphony orchestras and operas in Germany, Austria and Japan. [Constantin Trinks, Conductor]: "Yes, I'm deeply impressed. I have experienced this the first time today. The show in full length. Of course you are quite flooded by the impressions. Perhaps I can't say anything concrete yet, because I have to digest it first. It is really enormous to see, that all of this is a total work of art. With live music, with especially composed music. Well the choreography is individual anyway. It was really impressive." Shen Yun's Orchestra combines traditional Chinese instruments with the instruments of a classical symphony orchestra. [Constantin Trinks, Conductor]: "I was very pleased with the orchestra, they played technically very precise, the conductor is brilliant! Of course what gives it a special appeal is the combination of Western and Eastern instruments, which were foreign for my ears, but which were wonderfully harmonious together. There was nothing that didn't work together. It really is a combination, that is completely new for me and which works wonderfully." Conductor Trinks emphasizes the importance of the spirituality in Shen Yun's show. [Constantin Trinks, Conductor]: "I think this is really important. In my opinion it is shown unexpectedly unconcealed, but I think it is just part of that culture, that you say it very directly and show it directly. Sure with poetic words, but especially in the songs, it is said quite direct, what goes wrong in today's China. And of course to ban spirituality from life by prohibition is a crime. So I think this message is really important. I hope that also the Western audience takes a bit of it with them, because in our Western world, well it changes now a bit, but the religious part does not play the leading role in our daily life. So I think it is important not just for China, but also for the whole world to remember and also to see, that there is such a company like Shen Yun, which actually transmits this message." Shen Yun is currently performing a two show run in Prague before continuing it's European tour in Sweden. It's amazing how much efforts the designers and choreographers put in to match the dances with the costume. It's really hard to see that in the past. [Marvin Treiger PhD, Bodymind Institute, Los Angeles]: "I was walking down the street, and I saw the magnificent poster for this show. I knew nothing about Shen Yun, and I said that was like the essence of beauty, was that the color and the movement and the grace and the elegance and I thought I, we have to see it—I have to see it—we have to see it and so we got tickets and are very, very happy and we're very surprised." [Marvin Treiger PhD, Bodymind Institute, Los Angeles]: "It was bringing forth the teachings of awakening, and in the most beautiful way and showed how it's been a part of China, for so, forever, and so I was extremely pleased and surprised. I never expected that, and so I feel like I fell into some kind of heaven. And everything about it is so universal, I thought it was well put together. So that was a real pleasure." The performance had deep meaning for Mr. Treiger. [Marvin Treiger PhD, Bodymind Institute, Los Angeles]: "Well to me the culture, you know, there is a way that when one looks at, the moon, the awakened moon and the universals, but can find them in the beauty and the detail of life itself, in the color, in the grace, in the costume, in the movement, and all of the performers and the orchestra, these two things meet. They meet in the moment, and it was a great gift to be here and a great blessing." Shen Yun has a universal appeal for audiences, whatever their background and culture. A Beautiful Synthesis–Shen Yun Performing Arts, Phoenix Arizona official
Shen Yun Performing Arts played Phoenix, Arizona, on March 10 at the Orpheum Theatre. Practicing Psychiatrist Robert Costace and his wife were delighted by the show. [Robert Constace, Psychiatrist]: "A beautiful synthesis, a unity of music, color, dance, motion and spiritual message. I just enjoyed to see interwoven into the dance routines, and the vocalists. It gives me great, great hope, I feel so much, I feel better, after having been here. It gives me hope that such beauty, such dance groups are alive, and thriving." [Lynn Costace, Audience, Robert's Wife]: "I didn’t know what to expect. I've always been attracted to oriental, Asian entertainment but I had no idea what to expect here. I was just amazed at the overall influence of the dance, and how everyone just had so much energy, the dance and the song, the songs and the orchestration behind the dance. It was just a lovely combination of music, and movement and color, oh, that was amazing, and it just left me feeling very uplifted and very happy to have been here today." [Robert Constace, Psychiatrist]: "The very beginning, where this view of infinity, and this magnificent Buddha of infinity of the cosmos, is coming here to earth, to bring a message of joy, and beauty, and salvation of humanity. That was astounding. The special effects of photography, and the stage sets. I have a hobby of painting which I haven’t done a long time, and I was trying to paint the sets to copy them in my mind. What I would like to do in the future. All of this came together in such wonderful, wonderful, amazing beauty. And I wish, wish American youth could appreciate this. I'd like to see American youth get involved in this kind of classical traditional beauty." The couple say they will recommend Shen Yun to all their families and friends and want sound recordings of the show to give as Christmas and birthday presents. Shen Yun is ‘Poetry in Motion’ Says Dean of Performing Arts, Taipei, Taiwan official
Shen Yun Performing Arts is currently playing in Taipei, the capital of Taiwan, at the National Sun Yat-sen Memorial Hall. Cai Yongwen from the National Taiwan University of Arts (NTUA) watched the show on Friday night, February 22. [Cai Yongwen, Dean of College of Performing Arts, NTUA]: “It’s poetry in motion. I think all the performing arts must have the elements of humanity. Performances without those elements would only be stunts, and we would shout ‘awesome’, ‘cool’, and afterwards we go back home and that’s it. However, Shen Yun is different. After the show, you feel it touches the heart deep down. And the melody lingers on. What’s the reason? Because it’s full of the human spirit.” Shen Yun revives 5000 years of Chinese civilization, with performances that include ancient legends and characters. Cai Yongwen was impressed by the lighting effects in the piece ‘The Emporer Journeys to the Moon’. [Cai Yongwen, Dean of College of Performing Arts, NTUA]: “The changes in lighting are fantastic! Especially in the part where Emperor Xuanzong of Tang went to the Moon Palace and then everything lights up.” The same piece was mentioned by another audience member. [Lin Yixin, Consulting Firm Project Manager]: “In fact, science has broken many of our fantasies. For example, science has discovered nothing exists on the moon. But we have a lot of imagination about the moon. Just like in the show, Emperor Xuanzong of Tang went on a tour to the Moon Palace. I think it’s very beautiful.” Shen Yun’s beautiful colors seemed to fill the night with energy. [Lai Zhiyi, Representitive of Cannes Lions, International Festival of Creativity]: “If each color is a kind of energy, and the whole night is filled with bright colors, I feel the energy is very, very exciting.” Shen Yun plays in Taipei until February 26. And, the woman who played the Chinese instrument was really wonderful. I was particularly impressed by the effects where they used the screen in the back to make people seem like they disappear. Just wonderful. The costumes were beautiful. I enjoyed it thoroughly. I’ve never had an experience quite like it. Just wonderful.” Dr Castleman had a true fondness for two programs. [Judy Hanes, Gymnastic Instructor]: "Everything was exuberant, the coloring of the costumes was exquisite and the quick movement and the staccato dynamics of the men flying through space. [Nausheen Moulana, Senior Engineering Manager, Software Company]: "I like moment with the skirts, the different colors, wanted me to go get myself a skirt like that, it was so beautiful; everything was really amazing." Ballet teacher Liesl Lupoli was very impressed with the technique required of Chinese classical dancers. Many audience members were especially grateful of Shen Yun's mission of reestablishing China's lost culture. [Wendoly Langlois, Attorney]: "I loved just, kind of the historical aspect of it and how its taking us through you know several different periods in Chinese history. Composer Moved to Tears by Shen Yun in Boston official
Shen Yun’s performance at the Boston Opera House was rescheduled from February 8 to the 11th due to a severe blizzard that forced road closures and travel restrictions. Many in the audience were deeply moved, even to tears. [Jordan Montgomery, Composer, New England Conservatory of Music]: "I really enjoyed the Yi people dance—it was incredible, the music and the choreography was incredible. But what really did it for me was the tourist sketch—I mean the bit. That actually made me cry, and it was amazing that it could make me cry just from dancing." As a composer, Jordan appreciated the emotion conveyed through the Shen Yun Orchestra’s music. [Jordan Montgomery, Composer, New England Conservatory of Music]: "As a composer this has really been interesting to watch Chinese music and like get a feel for that, because it really–there's so much emotion in it, it was incredible. This has been such a great night for me, it's really lovely." The Reillys are both retired—they had high praise for Shen Yun. [Gerald Reilly, Retired University Psychology Lecturer]: "… movement of the people across the stage and how they seemed to float around the stage, it was really—really was an incredible show." [Francis Reilly, Retired Alcohol and Drug abuse Therapist]: "I thought it was the most beautiful thing I've ever seen in my whole life." Shen Yun Very, Very Impressive Says Musician official
Shen Yun Performing Arts opened in Columbus Ohio this Saturday (Feb 9) and musician Randy Clepper and his family were there. [Randy Clepper, Musician]: "Oh I loved it! It was great, yeah. I mean all the scenery, the costumes … the talented performers, the dance moves–the complexity of it all. It's just very, very impressive … Being a musician I enjoyed the orchestra. In classical music–in western classical music everything is so structured, but you have bringing in the Chinese instruments, both from the traditional perspective and also from classically trained, it just gives a new life and vibrancy to it." Randy says the stories helped him to understand more about the spiritual aspect of Chinese culture. [Randy Clepper, Musician]: "And the stories as well, I really enjoyed the stories … Just understanding more about Chinese culture, about different parts of the country and the history and the spiritual aspect that I understand you know, now is suppressed in China, so it was interesting to be able to hear more about that." Randy's wife Dora was also impressed. [Dora Clepper, Software Engineer]: "It was flawless, just—you know—very, very well done, that was very impressive." Their daughter said she learned something about China and loved the dances. [Erin Clepper, Student]: "I loved the synchronization, and the colors and the costumes and I also enjoyed the stories and being able to have some more insight into Chinese culture and history." The family gathered together to say 'I love Shen Yun' in Chinese. On Sunday Shen Yun gave another performance in Columbus at the Ohio Theater before continuing on with their tour of the United States. Good Will Prevail Shen Yun Performing Arts, Cincinatti, Ohio official
Leon Boothe is a former director of the Cincinnati Ballet and is also a History Professor. [Leon Boothe, History Professor, N. Kentucky University]: "I think that people can't help but pick up the message in the program of the spiritual attitude and the values and things like that … even under adversity, when things are bad, you can still see the good. The good will prevail." [Karen Boothe, Former Tap Dancer and Businesswoman, Retired]: "I kinda feel the same way, that good will overcome evil. And it–it just was very inspirational that the little guys won out, and they weren't–the the big guys were using weapons, the little ones weren't, they were just fighting with their hearts and their spirits … and God prevailed." As a former dancer Karen Boothe really appreciated the quality of the dancing. [Karen Boothe, Former Tap Dancer and Businesswoman, Retired]: "The dancers were very good … they were together all the time, they you know, very synchronized. And they do very difficult things, when they would put their legs up … I don't think people realized how difficult that was to do, but as a dancer, I knew it was difficult, you know–they were excellent." The couple remarked on the dedication of the artists to spiritual values. [Karen Boothe, Former Tap Dancer and Businesswoman, Retired]: "The audience was deeply touched just because the people–they had their hearts in their–their dancing." [Leon Boothe, History Professor, N. Kentucky University]: "Broaden your mind, broaden your perspective, understand that there's another part of the world that needs understanding and we have a play–a role to play in that … We still have a long ways to go to bring peace and harmony but–the values are there." This was Shen Yun's second performance at the Aronoff Center for the Arts in Cincinnatti, Ohio. The Show is Beautiful-Hollywood Screenwriter Sees Shen Yun official
Shen Yun Performing Arts have just completed their 3-city run in the L.A. area, including shows in Costa Mesa, Thousand Oaks, and Los Angeles. Being in L.A., a leading Hollywood television and movie screenwriter came to see Shen Yun, even relating the performance to his own line of work. [Richard Walter, Screenwriter, TV, Movie]: “I loved the show. The show is beautiful, very beautiful. I love that it’s essentially story telling which is what I do and what I–what I teach. And it just tells me that as much as it shared, as is separate among all people, it’s also shared. And that’s beautiful." Shen Yun contains a variety of different elements, and Mr. Walter especially noted the costumes. [Richard Walter, Screenwriter, TV, Movie]: "It’s a beautiful ensemble, many different kinds of craft and art and yet it all works together as a single unified enterprise … costuming, the wardrobe is so exquisite, it’s something I’ve never really seen before. And it’s not just something to wear that looks beautiful, though it does look beautiful, but it’s also a part of the dance. Almost as if the wardrobe itself were dancing."Performing Arts has always been something universal, and Mr. Walter found that in Shen Yun. [Richard Walter, Screenwriter, TV, Movie]: "Very very much deeply religious, very very touching trying to figure out the way the world is, the way it works, the way it doesn’t work, through forces that are bigger than we are that we can't really understand. Very exciting and again very universal. Not just Chinese, but worldwide … It seems–all at once very different from me and very like me, all at the same time and I think that’s what art does very well. It seems to be about somebody else but it’s really about you." As the last curtain closes for the 2013 Shen Yun production in the L.A area, Shen Yun has to say farewell to the City of Angels as it looks to the road ahead. For more news and videos visit ➡ http://english.ntdtv.comFollow us on Twitter ➡ http://twitter.com/NTDTelevisionAdd us on Facebook ➡ http://on.fb.me/s5KV2C
