Rufus the blind bobcat kitten was believed to have been hit by a car on Dec 4th in South Carolina. He weighed just 4.2lbs, had a broken jaw, split canine and was comatose.After he woke up from the coma he was pretty loopy, the South Carolina rehabber figured the impact had done brain damage. They had to wire the jaw shut, tube feed him and remove the broken canine, he was taken in by Big Cat Rescue on Feb 12th 2012.We continued with the rehab process and all fell in love with this brave little bobcat, unfortunately his seizures returned and a particularly severe episode claimed his life...Rufus will be missed dearly by everyone who got to know him and of his story. The leopards at Big Cat Rescue are definitely some of the funniest cats at the sanctuary! They're often "break dancing", playing with enrichment, stalking tour guests and just being goofy! When a big cat collector in Texas died she left behind 20 lions, tigers and cougars in a barn on her property. Thanks to a five part collaboration of sanctuaries, GFAS - The Global Federation of Sanctuaries and YOU all of the cats were rescued!Max the cougar needed to be transported to Safe Haven Rescue Zoo in Nevada so Big Cat Rescue stepped in to help. The 5500 mile round trip from Tampa to Nevada took 3 staff members over a week to complete at a cost of $0.50 per mile! Thank you to everybody who helped support this journey and helped give Max a new lease on life :)
