CRASHFEST

CRASHFEST is an International Festival of Short Films and is organised for the Film Department, School of Fine Arts, Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, Greece, by Nikos Giannopoulos. Filmmakers who are students (independently of their age) in a public or private school, college or university in Greece and abroad can participate in it.
Its organisation is an initiative that the Film Department took, in order to respond to a growing need of young people to express themselves through film, in an age dominated by audiovisual texts.
The Festival aims to give future professional filmmakers the chance to showcase their creativity. Furthermore, it aims to create a forum of discussion on studying film and filmmaking.
The Festival is a competition. It doe not aim to be a competition for schools, but rather for young filmmakers. It does not aim to be a forum of advertisement for companies or schools, but rather to provide the opportunity for filmmaking students to meet, exchange views and cooperate.
Films are divided into four categories: Fiction, documentary, Animation and Experimental. Please see the rules of entry for the awards and prizes given.
The Jury are well-known Filmmakers and Artists from Greece and from abroad.
CRASHFEST takes place in April or May and each of the three previous Crashfests screened 93-110 films 26-28 schools.
The 5th Crashfest will take place in Thessaloniki, Greece, 28-3-May, 2010.
