London / Munich, 15 October 2007 – The impressive line up for this year’s MTV Europe Music Awards continues to grow as will.i.am and Nicole Scherzinger perform live together for the first time on stage joining Avril Lavigne, Foo Fighters, Mika and My Chemical Romance for what will be an exhilarating night of music entertainment on Thursday 1st November. Germany’s best loved sporting hero, former world number one and Olympic tennis champ, Boris Becker will present an award at the prestigious event sponsored by Sony Ericsson and edc by Esprit. Other presenters confirmed for the night include 2001 MTV EMA winner Craig David, Depeche Mode front man Dave Gahan, pop punksters Good Charlotte, British songstress Joss Stone, REM megastar Michael Stipe, System Of A Down’s Serj Tankian and producer and member of hip hop trio The Fugees, Wyclef Jean.
Foo Fighters Dave Grohl and Taylor Hawkins add their personal twist as the events unfold throughout the evening from their exclusive bar at the MTV EMA's. Dave and Taylor will give the audience a peep in to the behind the scenes news from the winners, presenters and guests... and provide a perfect foil for the EMA's Host Snoop Dogg.
The battle to pick up the coveted News Sounds of Europe Award created in partnership with Sony Ericsson, escalates as the elimination begins in the countdown to the awards. Latvia’s band Astro’n’out are first to be knocked out and each day one more band will be ejected from the competition until only three semi finalists remain. The three surviving acts will then attend the MTV EMAs in Munich and for the first time viewers will decide by voting online and by live sms who will be the ultimate winner. The successful band will not only win the coveted New Sounds Of Europe award but will also perform during the show. To vote, visit www.mtvema.com or www.sonyericsson.com/mtvema.
“The New Sounds of Europe Award brings a healthy element of competition to the MTV EMAs. For the first time not only is MTV getting our audiences around Europe actively engaged in the Awards but we’re also showcasing new music and artists to the world. Together with the incredible line up of performers and presenters announced to date, this year’s MTV EMAs in Munich will be a night to remember!’ - Richard Godfrey, Senior Vice President of Content & Music, MTV Networks International & Executive Producer of the MTV EMAs.
