When Bourguiba proposed a compromise with the Jewish State of Israel, he was seen by most Arab leaders (and peoples) as a "traitor" and a "coward." Now, they have not only recognized the legality of this implanted State through consular and ambassadorial representations, but would be willing to accept a redistribution of territories that gives Palestinians a smaller piece of land than the one they could've been granted if they had followed Bourguiba's proposition...Bourguiba was definitely a political genius with a keen understanding of the complex issues that both Tunisia and the Arab world had faced during his lifetime. There's no comparison between the enlightened Bourguiba and the current leader who can't even make a good speech in Arabic (let alone French) without reading from a paper...

il n'est pas mon prefere pour rien. g tjrs admire cet homme, son intelligence, il est parmi les meilleur stratege et visionnaires du monde. dommage k'on ne parleplus de lui. ca semble etre une maladie en tunisie. on ignore tjrs nos grands de Ibn Khaldoun...a Bourguiba
