FIRExFIRE (pronounced Fire by Fire) is a band formed by close friends and former bandmates of popular Toronto band The Framework (Last Gang). The band welds the acoustic soul of rock and roll with the pop and sizzle of oscillators, with flavours of Phoenix, The Strokes and Depeche Mode. PostCity calls the band "a muscular, synth-heavy, power pop band...they've got plenty of experience cramming songs with hooks until they pinata-burst.", and Alan Cross said "There's something of a power to this - a little like lift-off." The band members have a long history of playing in Toronto, from headlining spots at major clubs like the Mod Club and Horseshoe Tavern, to hotly reviewed performances at festivals like CMW and NXNE. TorontoMusicScene blog called the band "the greatest NXNE find thus far" at the 2012 North by Northeast Festival.
The band released their debut album in August of 2012, with the first single from this album, "We Didn't Know" added to medium rotation on MuchMusic and Aux TV, and reaching #2 on the Aux TV Daily Video Countdown. Track 1 "I Got Time" was also nominated as a semi-finalist in the International Songwriting Competition. The band is now releasing their companion EP "Ashes" in February of 2013, with Canadian tour to follow.
FIRExFIRE includes of Chris Graham (The Framework) on vocals and guitars, Brynn Witton on keys, Scott Winter (The Framework, Ketch Harbour Wolves) on bass and Jon Fedorsen (The Framework, Crash Parallel) on drums.
