Classic Game Room - FIRE FLY for Atari 2600 review
Classic Game Room HD reviews FIRE FLY for the Atari 2600. Think E.T. is the worst Atari game ever made? Guess again. FIREFLY! No, not the awesome Joss Whedon television show that was unfortunately cancelled because it was actually good, Fire Fly is one of the most terrible video games ever created. Fly a Firefly around a screen flanked by static and flowers. Shoot things with awful, terrible, mind bogglingly slow gunfire and "save" fairies (which killed me every time I saved them). This is very little excitement to the gameplay and the progrmming of this game feels incomplete. This CGRHD review of Fire Fly has Firefly gameplay and footage from this Atari 2600 cartridge. It can be played with the Atari 2600 ProLine trackball but that makes it even worse. Although Classic Game Room is not one to needlessly beat up on old games, Fire Fly is an example of what caused the video game market to crash in 1983 and 1984. Too many games were released without real inspiration or creative gameplay to set them apart from the masses. Firefly is a complete mess and should be avoided at all costs. Classic Game Room reviews Atari 2600 games because CGRHD is an Atari 2600 reviewer reviewing old school classic retro video games for the Atari VCS.

Classic Game Room - DODGE 'EM for Atari 2600 review
Classic Game Room HD reviews DODGE 'EM for the Atari 2600 VCS from 1978! If you like Atari you'll love Dodge 'Em! If you love Atari you'll want to make Dodge 'Em your mistress, and then cheat on Atari behind its back. Dodge opposing cars as you collect dots (or cursers) on screen in this fast paced, exciting Atari game from the 1970's! Dodge 'Em is a super easy game to find and collect today and costs pennies. If you like Atari games like Maze Craze, Surround or Indy 500 you'll dig Dodge 'Em because the simplicity of the gameplay makes it addictive and extremely challenging. Change lanes and avoid the opposing cars as they try to smash into you preventing you from collecting points! Bitches! DodgeEm is one of those classic video games that can be easily overlooked because it doesn't have a popular, catchy mascot. Don't pass this game up though! Classic Game Room reviews Atari games with respect for the past 30 years of old school retro gaming. CGRHD is the Atari 2600 reviewer to watch reviewing Atari 2600 vcs old school games.

Classic Game Room - WARPLOCK for Atari 2600 review
Classic Game Room HD reviews WARPLOCK for the Atari 2600 VCS video computer system! Break out those Atari paddle controllers and shoot some f'n space pirates in this awesome Data Age game from 1982. Use your tachyon whachamacallits to level Hypertime and rack up points in this Space Invaders meets Breakout video game for the Atari 2600. Classic Game Room HD loves Atari paddle controller games, this one is pretty simple but still packs short games full of awesome space warfare. WARP LOCK is set in the future against hyperspace and hypertime, so you must lock your warp something on to that bad guys doing something else with uh.... whatever, if it moves, SHOOT IT!!!! If it still moves you missed, shoot again before it destroys you! ATARI! This CGRHD review of Data Age's WARPLOCK has gameplay footage from Warplock in HD, an old school retro arcade style Atari 2600 paddle controlled video game from the 1980's. [Test] Battle Outrun (Master System)

Classic Game Room - KRYZER PROLOGUE for iPod review
Classic Game Room HD reviews KRYZER PROLOGUE for iPod Touch and iPhone. This video game app for iPod is like a remix of Dodge 'Em for Atari 2600 with a turntable and techno beat. Well made with good controls and fluid gameplay, Kryzer Prologue is a fast, fun and cool game to pick up and play. Get sucked into the rotating playing field with lane based action, blasting opponents for more time and increasing your multiplyer. This CGRHD review of Kryzer Prologue has gameplay footage from K.Ryzer Prologue (also misspelled Kryser Prologue review). Available from iTunes for an affordable price and playable on iTouch (aka iPod Touch) and iPhone, Kryzer Prologue should appeal to retro gamers as well as those looking for fun cell phone apps and iPod video games.

Classic Game Room - DEFENDER for Atari 5200 review
Classic Game Room HD reviews DEFENDER for Atari 5200. This Eugene Jarvis classic arcade game is one of the best in the world, how does it work on the Atari 5200? CGRHD review of Defender has gameplay footage recorded from Atari 5200 showing the space ship in Defender during game play. Defender is an old school, horizontally scrolling SHMUP style game where you fight off enemies and save humans before they are captured and turned into mutants. What fun! The Atari 5200 has multiple buttons (unlike Atari 2600) allowing players to shoot, drop smart bombs and hyperspace! Classic Game Room HD reviews Atari 5200 video game cartridges as a retro reviewer reviewing Atari 5200 video games from the early 1980's.

Classic Game Room - SQUIBS ARCADE for iPod review
Classic Game Room HD reviews SQUIBS ARCADE for iPod Touch and iPhone. This app for iPod is a collection of 7 old school LCD style plastic pocket video games. Remember the Nintendo Game and Watch? Yeah, well these are like the cheapie ones that had 2 buttons, run on a battery and were overpowered by the Atari 2600 many times over. A neat collection of games for enthusiasts and collectors, but lacking the depth of gameplay that most may expect. It's a funny novelty item and gets a laugh from those who remember the original. The games included are meant to be funny and some are parodies of popular game franchises today like Metal Gear Solid, Final Fantasy Tactics and Gears of War. Squibs Arcade for iPod, LCD video games from the 80's return with touch screen controls and a good sense of humor.

Classic Game Room - CHOPLIFTER for Sega Master System
Classic Game Room HD reviews CHOPLIFTER for Sega Master System from 1985. Originally from Broderbund, Choplifter can be found on just about every video game system and computer platform from back in the day. Pilot your rescue helicopter into combat situation and carry hostages back to safety without being shot down or bombed. This CGRHD review of Choplifter on Sega Master System has gameplay from Choplifter recorded from the Sega SMS showing this side scrolling action retro old school classic video game being played. The music in this version of Choplifter is very good, as are the graphics and gameplay. The cartridge suffers from a lot of flicker but thats really the only problem, Choplifter is a classic arcade style game from the 80s and the Sega Master System maga cartridge has a great version of it. Classic Game Room played the game on a Sega Genesis Model 1 with Power Base Converter. Choplifter and other Sega Master System games are reviewed by Classic Game Room, a Sega Master System reviewer reviewing classic retro gaming from SMS.

Classic Game Room - VECTREX console review!
Classic Game Room HD reviews the VECTREX video game console from GCE (General Consumer Electric) from 1982. The Vectrex is unique in that is plays video games on its own screen with vector based graphics giving a very crisp image that fans of old school games from the late 70's and early 80's should enjoy. The Vectrex has some excellent games like Berzerk and Scramble, but not as many as the venerable Atari 2600 or ColecoVision. New games are being released for the Vectrex from homebrew developers and the game system is surprisingly easy to find and collect today thanks to eBay. Vectrex games come with an overlay that fits over the screen and gives a splash of color and lists the controls. Classic Game Room HD reviews new and classic games, we're now adding Vectrex video game reviews to the video game review show. For retro gaming fans and old school gamers the Vectrex is a unique and fun collectible that takes up a bit of space but it's worth it!

Classic Game Room - AMIDAR for Atari 2600 review
Classic Game Room HD reviews AMIDAR for Atari 2600, originally from Konami and Stern in 1981 for the arcades. Amidar is a fun and simple old school style Atari VCS game cartridge (it's a Parker Brothers game cartridge) and packs hours of fun in the most basic visuals ever. You play as a gorilla vs. warriors or a paint roller vs. pigs. Yes, awesome. Fans of old school retro gaming will love Amidar, it's easy to find and collect today and is challenging to master. This CGRHD review of Amidar has gameplay footage from Amidar for Atari 2600 and shows the 1980's classic video game in action. If you like Pac Man, Donkey Kong or Lock n' Chase give this game a try. Classic Game Room HD recommends Amidar.

Classic Game Room - CHOPLIFTER! for Atari 7800 review
Classic Game Room HD reviews CHOPLIFTER! for Atari 7800 ProSystem! This side scrolling shmup style game mixed with a rescue mission has intentionally difficult shooting controls to challenge the gamer to dodge or fire at enemy aircraft and hot air balloons while saving hostages and transporting them back to a post office to be parcel posted home. Remember kids, when you rescue hostages from evil villains you have to use regular mail or Priority Mail, not media mail! Humans do not count as media. Choplifter was designed by Dan Gorlin and originally published by Broderbund. This version on Atari 7800 is not one of the better versions of this fun old school retro video game but still entertaining to revisit (it's my game from back in the day!). This CGRHD review of Choplifter has gameplay from the video game Choplifter on Atari 7800 from 1987 showing the helicopter shooting bad guys, landing on rescued hostages and saving them too! Too bad it doesn't have more than one level! The maximum score is 64. If you want a real score then get another version of Choplifter (like the Sega Master System version). Choplifter! should not be confused with Chopper Command from Activision, they are 2 different games.

Classic Game Room - MINE STORM for Vectrex review
Classic Game Room HD reviews MINE STORM for Vectrex from 1982. Mine Storm is a built in game for the Vectrex (at least for my unit) and is similar to Asteroids with elements of Geometry Wars. It plays on the Vectrex with vector based graphics and uses a screen overlay to give some style and show the button layout for the Vectrex controller. Shoot bad guys in space and avoid the nasties that try and chase you around the screen. Mine Story is an excellent arcade game that feels like an arcade game when played on the Vectrex with the awesome controller. This CGRHD review of Mine Storm on Vectrex has gameplay footage from Mine Story and game play showing the Vectrex video game console from GCE in action! This is an excellent game for retro gamers and fans of old school video games and arcade classics from the early 80's.
