A melding of art and architecture, Murphy’s work combines the modern, deconstructivist style of Frank Gehry with the organic approach of land artist Andy Goldsworthy. Each piece in the recent collection is made entirely of natural and salvaged objects such as river stones, sticks, tree bark and metal, which take the form of free-standing, hanging and wall-mounted sculpture. A woodworker and sculptor in Bucks County for more than 20 years, Murphy forges a range of materials, textures and colors found in nature to create one-of-a-kind pieces reflecting the inward or outward, humorous or serious ‘soul’ of their components.
“Ed sees possibilities in rocks and wood scraps – objects that the average person might step over a hundred times and not recognize,” said David Teague, artist and owner of America Antiques and Design. “His body of work reflects a creative journey that began with small geometric sketches and has evolved to include large-scale sculpture and modern furniture.”
Murphy is one of several local artists featured by Teague in his forthcoming DVD series titled “Artists at Work”. The art-film project involves video portraiture of area artists in the process of painting, sculpting and performing. Excerpts of the film will be previewed during the exhibit on Saturday evening.

:-) ....The sculpture composition is something close to my heart - It gives a second life to those earthy objects left here by the Gods. The pieces are meticulously crafted in strong angles and form - delightfully accentuated by the Americanshaft's style.
