On "Max and Dizzy in Paris, 1989" (A&M) disc 2, there is an extended interview the subject of which is this film. Interestingly, neither could identify the bass player...it's great fun to hear them, Max commenting on Dizzy's straight trumpet ("This hadn't happened yet," replied Diz, I guess pointing at his signature horn.) They tell lots of stories, and kidding Dizzy, "How come I wasn't on this gig?" By the way, the presenter is none other than Symphony Sid. It's worth finding and hearing, and you can hear the complete performance from this wonderful bit. By the way, the music from the Paris concert is just wonderful...Max and Dizzy playing duets!

The best part of this video is before and after the performance. They recieve thier Billboard awards from a obviously racist announcer and the looks on Bird's face is priceless!!!
