Created in 2009 by the Institut Français de Birmanie and artistic director Christophe Loviny, the Yangon Photo Festival is a project under the patronage of Daw Aung San Suu Kyi. This year, the festival 's international exhibits and conferences were dedicated to environmental issues.
The YPF project is also an opportunity to train Myanmar photo-journalists and artists to multimedia storytelling.
On Jan 28, the best short photo films produced by the new generation were shown to the public. The jury presided by Aung San Suu Kyi awarded the top prizes to Myo Thame for The Gravel Girl and Seng Mai for Life Garden.
