Rio mayor Eduardo Paes, 44, said the majority of Brazilians support the 2014 Brazil World Cup on Saturday. Mr Paes was speaking after riot police in Brazil fired tear gas to disperse thousands of protesters in São Paulo and Rio de Janeiro who marched against the cost of hosting this summer's tournament on Friday. The competition begins on 12 June with the Seleção versus Croatia at São Paulo's Corinthians Arena.
