The Palm Springs Opera Guild is a 501(c)3 non-profit cultural organization which provides education, support and promotion of all aspects of opera. The Guild specifically brings opera programs and events to the residents of the communities of the Coachella Valley area of southern California.
The Guild's main emphasis is to enrich the lives of children by providing them access to and knowledge of opera as a musical art form which in turn will encourage them to explore and develop their own musical passions.
To advance the education and promote the careers of young artists.the Guild organizes and funds a major opera Vocal Scholarship Competition each year which reaches out to the tri-state area of California, Arizona and Nevada .Many winners are now singing with companies around the world including Vienna, Paris, Amsterdam, Rome, Los Angeles, San Francisco and New York's Metropolitan. We are very proud to provide stepping stones for these young aspiring artists to further their talent and careers.
The Guilds annual free to the community presentation of Opera In The Park , a vocal program with full orchestra in beautiful Sunrise Park in Palm Springs further promotes our mission to make the art form accessible to as many people as possible. The 12th annual presentation of this event in March of 2010 drew a diverse crowd of almost 5000 people to this enormously popular community event.
Each June the Guilds' Youth Outreach Program brings the art form into K-12 classrooms throughout the valley. The 2010 program reached over 14,000 students giving many their first exposure to opera.
The Guild strives to provide cultural enhancement to Valley residents by annually presenting major opera at the areas McCallum Theater as well as promoting programs in the Annenberg Theater at the Palm Springs Art Museum.
Please support our mission with membership and donations which are fully tax deductible as allowed by law.
