Stories and Songs: The Yellow Brick Road to Literacy

Since February 2010, 6 of Max Tell's songs and stories have received recognition in national and international competitions. Max is a professional children’s entertainer, singer-songwriter, with over 25 years of experience, performing from Toronto to Beijing. His latest family show and 5th CD, Monkey Mumbo Jumbo, will set everyone’s toes tapping, hands clapping, and tongues tickling to tango.
Max have toured the Pacific Rim 5 times, the longest tour included 98 performances over 3 ½ months. The Vancouver International Children’s Festival has dubbed me ‘The International Troubadour’. I have also performed my songs at Bumbershoot (The Seattle Arts Festival), The Singapore and Australian Storytelling Festivals, and The Vancouver Storytelling Festival, the latter with close to a dozen appearances.
Last year, Max gave 110 performances, including a 3 week tour of libraries in the Fraser Valley and on Vancouver Island, British Columbia, as part of their 2008 Summer Reading Club. This fall, I head to Brazil for a 3 week international school tour. One of his stories, Fiezo, the Book Burro, was runner-up for the 2007 ‘Writing for Children’ competition sponsored by the Writers’ Union of Canada.

“I believe that well crafted stories, songs, and poems empower young people. Stories teach children about themselves, their family, their friends, their neighbors and the world they live in. Stroies also teach all of us how to live, how to love, even how to forgive.”

More information:
